It's 3rd and goal at the 8, you can have any WR, who do you choose?

Greatest offensive player I've ever seen play -- Jerry Rice.

Moss isn't the 3 and 8 guy -- he is the 1st and 10 guy and then throw him a bomb for 60 yards.

CJ is great in the end zone, but Jerry Rice was a monster in his prime. 22 TDs in 12 games in 1986 as an example.

I'll take Michael Irvin (He's watching me right now on the NFL channel) or Drew Pearson.

If i have to complete one pass, regardless of where it is, I'm going Moss every single time.

Happy motivated Moss or pouty moody Moss?

The Randy Moss (Circa Vikings 2004 or Raiders 2006) who, when unhappy, had a terrible attribute and had 767 yards and 553 yards respectively. That Moss would give up on plays, alligator arm plays in the middle of the field, and generally drag his team down.

CC, Rice, Decep, Irving, Dez, Randy… other, TO
If we were talking 3rd and 8 from your own 20 for the TD… Moss, all day, all night.

He definitely was a different player in those specific years, but for the most part in his career he was the "motivated Moss". I also find it funny how people like to bring up "Moss would give up on plays" (a true statement), but no WR (even Jerry Rice) runs 100% on EVERY play, especially if they know the ball is going else where.

IMHO I think the difference was, mentally J. Rice was in every play.

That Amp Lee / Edgar Bennett backfield (Lee at RB, Bennett at FB) was certainly a joy to watch.

I still remember very clearly those two demolishing Michigan in 1991 in Ann Arbor.

Ha! Terrell Buckley int return for a TD set it off. Amp was one of the smoothest 4.7 runners ever.

I'd rather have Moss than rice..people act as if Moss was some sort of dumb ***...didn't Tom Brady say he was one of the smartest receivers he's ever played with?

Not at all. Moss was smart on the field, but the play isn't over until the whistle is blown, and Rice new this. Moss was the most talented receiver I ever watched, and I loved him as a player.

And that's where those two WRs are separated. Moss blows away Rice from a physical ability stand point, but Rice is/was light years ahead of Moss in the mental aspect of the game. Not saying he's not Football smart, but if you got into Moss's head then more times than not he would fold.

it's funny, that people are so hyped up on calvin after this past week. He looks the part, 6-5, soft hands, big vert. But even playing in today's cupcake league, he doesn't even have HALF the touchdown totals of terrell owens, randy moss or jerry rice. not even chris carter.

On the 2nd to last play of that detroit drive, I was so sure he was going to score when i saw jakar hamilton getting over late. Instead, 5-11 190 lb hamilton hits calvin johnson (6-5 235 lb) and he goes down like a sack of flour. When CJ had his 200 targets last year, only 5 of them went for touchdowns. Sometimes you have to look beyond the measurables and just go by production.

For the record, the best RZ target was randy moss. It is not even close, given the trash qbs he's made look good throughout his years in the league. Jerry was incredible, but the best boundary receivers ive ever seen were chris carter and randy moss. Only moss could jump 48 inches

You need to rewatch that play. Calvin Johnson was already going down and Hamilton bounces off of him like a fisher price toy football.

I do agree with your Moss choice though. When motivated, he was the most dominate WR ever and there was absolutely no covering him on jump balls.
