A.J. Green, Julio Jones, DeMaryius Thomas, and Dez Bryant. All great talents and all on 1-year deals. Teams are banking on the price coming down, and it will.

Personally, I am hoping for Green to be the first to sign. The Bengals are notoriously frugal and it might end up being the best deal to set the market.

Bryant and Condon are making more noise than they are, mainly because they want Dallas to blink and give him the type of contract in line with what the market set by Fitzgerald and Johnson did and it is way out of line. Stephen Jones said it well and appears to be taking the right approach.

All in all, trading him is not an option on many levels, one of which being no team is going to pay that. Teams do collude to keep salaries down when there is historical evidence of bad contracts, the WR market will end up coming down or flat-lining. About the only place you will see the contracts continue to inflate is at QB where teams know they have no options.

Trade arguably our best player because he and his agent started high on contract negotiations, a month before training camp opens? On the idea scale, I'm gonna say that's on the horrible side.
thank you
hold outs are a right of the player it will all be fine

Trade 88...I love him...my fav since Irvin....but 17mm is ridiculous. Trade his butt to the Saints for Mark Ingram and next year's 2nd, then go out and sign Da'rick Rogers who just got cut by the Chiefs. Dooley knows him from his Tenn days...Mark Ingram and Rogers, Williams, and Beasley as your top 3....I could live with that...

oh geezuz christi on a bamboo pole pogo stick.

this post is ridiculous.

need a whinezone with a subforum of butthurt-cheeze.

If we are gonna trade the best wr in the game do we also have to get taken to the cleaners in the process? That trade is awful!

Best case scenario: Dez holds out the first 3 games and we go 3-0. His price goes down.

Worst case scenario: Dez hold out the first 3 games and we go 0-3. His price goes up.

Is Dez bold enough to wait for one of those scenarios to play out?

agreed, Dez is a beast but rather have a two 1st round picks then a receiver making 17 million a year, that's more than 10% of the cap!

Dez is not under contract and cannot be traded.
Plus, that is an absolutely horrific trade for Dallas.

True but he can negotiate with other teams(non-exclusive franchise tag), let them sign him and give us two 1st round picks, problem is, no one is going to pay Dez 17 million a year, not us and not anyone else.

People need to R E L A X when it comes to Dez and Cowboys.

Still got roughly a month before the due date of the franchise tag signing and 2-1/2 months before the regular season starts.

It's a waiting game not only between Dez and the FO but also between the Bengals/Broncos and their respective receivers as well.

Right now, he's only missing minicamp. It's probably a blessing in disguise so Romo can get more chemistry with the other receivers on the squad.

I love message board ideas. Although they never happen because Owners don't live in fantasy fan universes.

The trade proposed is the type that starts an email chain of fantasy league managers that ends with former friends describing in graphic detail what they'd do to each other's mothers.

You would be a bad GM.

You don't trade. You tag him "two times"
Let him go after that.

I don't think so, don't let contract negotiation cloud your vision. Things are done and said but as soon as the contract is signed the 2 parties will act as if it was no big deal. Dez is not the 1st to go through this and will not be the last.

we can have him for the next two years under franchise tag.

Most likely case scenario: Dez doesn't hold out at all, even if playing under the tag. He would be forfeiting over 800K/game with absolutely no possibility of anything gained. If he were to actually sit out any game(s), it could only be to "punish" the Jones' for not getting his deal done. That is not who Dez is.
