Since posting on this forum, I tried to educate everyone that Jimmy Johnson was going to be the next Cowboys Head Coach 2 years before Jerry lied and said he brought in Jimmy Johnson. Top Dallas Cowboys executives told me that they had discussions with Jimmy to hire him to replace Landry and a deal was in place after the 1987 Miami College Championship starting with the drafting of Michael Irvin by the Cowboys in 1988 with Jimmy taking over for the 1990's. Do you really think HOF's Tex Schramm, and Gil Brandt did not have a succession plan in place for Tom Landry who nearly everyone in Dallas were calling to be replaced?
They had 2 succession plans. I could go in detail regarding Tex, Gil, the U, the Cowboys, Jimmy Johnson, the Dolphins, and the 49ers. However all you need to know is that whoever was going to buy the Cowboys after the 1987 season was going to have Jimmy Johnson as their HC. Jerry used Jimmy to get an inside on buying the Dallas Cowboys not the other way around. Also, when Jerry bought the team in 1989 there was news article interview where Jerry said in Jimmy Johnson you get "2 for the price of 1" Head Coach and GM. So from Jerry Jones mouth, it was all lies.
Jerry purchase only messed up a smoother transition plan and caused Jimmy havoc getting his staff together in 1989 a year prior to the 1990 season. It is the same messed up situation the now Arlington Jonesboys have had since Jerry Dumo GM Jones fired Jimmy Johnson. Arlington Jonesboys fans have been in his cycle of lies and misinformation for 30 years. "We are going all in" again, and again, and again while the cash register rings with your money, and time investment.
