folks say Buddy Holly is one of the major pioneers of Rock and Roll (along with Chuck Berry, Elvis, and others)...it's now been 50 years since he died too soon in a plan crash with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper

Thanks for posting this.

I'm 25 years old, but I consider Buddy Holly my main influence. He is the reason I fell in love with music and picked up a guitar.

He was absolutely brilliant.

"True Love Ways" was the song my Wife and I chose for our first dance at our wedding reception.

The movie about him is still a classic IMO.

One of Gary Busey's(sp) finest performances. Busey actually performed the songs himself in the movie as far as vocals go. He did a fine job and was a dead ringer for Holly.

I was born a few blocks from where Buddy recorded most of his hits, and got a special tour of the place a few years ago (Norman Petty Studios in Clovis). I also enjoyed a visit to Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock and have read a couple of biographies.

Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of the musician, and the young man (he'll always be young). My favorite songs are probably Oh Boy, Everyday, and It's So Easy.

The attached article is outstanding (thanks for posting it), and Phillip Norman's biography is a must-read for Holly fans.

Absolutely. I'm not the kind of person that will just up and read a book, but I went through that book in two days, and read it another two times.

Favorite Holly songs:

That'll be the day
True love ways
Words of love
Everyday( first song I learned on the guitar )
