When Romo came in and threw 3 INTs in a half against New York. Did anyone think we would make the playoffs or be within a half yard of basically winning a playoff game?

I didn't. I'm proud of this season and what this team and Romo will learn from this. Next year we won't have him holding for field goals.

Defense played good enough to win. We need to get better, improve at some positions but we'll be a competitive team next year.

We need some changes obviously. But Parcels is the man to turn it around. We need a new defensive coordinator and some new players to rush the passer. But we proved tonight we can play with anyone.

Romo completely proved me wrong.

I agree - it was a good season, and we have some good players to build with. Here's to next year.

decent season, some fans just want to be superbowl champs every damn season, and its impossible. This team will just IMPROVE, we have lots of young guys and i see a near SB win. Bill Cowher was a steeler for 15 years and got 1 SB at the end, football is about being patient and ENJOYING it! you are not a fan if you dont know how to lose.

yup..

good season but a miserable final 5 weeks.

we need some coaching changes... DC at least and i'd prefer a whole new regime as i don't think this staff/tuna can take THESE particular players any further.

Bad start, great middle, terrible end.

I'll be mad at Romo for days, but he's still our horse. Hopefully he'll be able to come back from this.

We need to rebuild this team brick by brick. Some can stay, some can go.

First departure, the majority of the coaching staff.

I think we need a new DC. But to get this team to a playoff when you make a QB change in mid-season at the half of a game is remarkable. Then shortly after making that change we lost our second best pass rusher. If we don't lose him we probably win 3 or 4 that we lost down the stretch.

You can't win it all ever year.

how is 9-8 a great year, no i didnt think this team was making the playoffs after the giant game, but after the 2nd giant game did anyone think this team was losing wild card weekend. we didnt lose to the chargers tonight, we lost to a 9-7 team that was bringing in cb;s off the street.

I wasn't putting this team in the playoffs after any game this year. This team was too inconsistent. Then when Greg Ellis got hurt that really hurt the defense. I don't think we can keep the status quo and be a great team next year. But we can win 10-12 games next year if we continue to progress and get some good players to add to the good nucleus we have.

this is so true. I grew up in a household where my Dad is a cowboys fan, my bros. LA Rams fan. Only thing is I only have small amount of memory of the cowboys superbowl win from the SB XXX I was like 9 yrs old. I remember alot of down seasons. Its all about sticking with your team through the thick and thin, anybody ready to jump off a bridge is silly. And ANYBODY willing to say that they are never going to watch football no more or won't be a fan of this great franchise was NEVER a true fan anyways. This team will be great and very soon...

Just a roller coaster of a year. Never seen one as strange as this one in my 30 years of watching this team. I'll say that we HAVE found a QB. Romo has a lot of poise, can make all the throws and made the typical first year QB mistakes. He'll be MUCH better next year. I'm happy with him. I really think our RB's get the same grief our DB"s do and it's undeserved. Guys, the reality is our interior line play SUCKS. ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. And until it's fixed, we're doomed to this kind of inconsistency. Ware showed some nice improvement this year, but can't do it alone. Ferguson is long in the tooth and Ellis' injury crushed us worse than I thought possible. Drastic measures are needed. I still like Parcell's talent/draft evaluation, but I'd like to see a younger, hungrier defensive minded coach come in. As I've said in other thread, back the brinks truck up for Cowher if need be. This won't sting so bad after the Bears mop the floor with Seattle next week. But it WILL sting when Philly goes to the Super Bowl, because that's what I'm afraid is going to happen if they keep up their level of play.

I hope Bill comes back (but leaves Zimmer in Seattle). I think we're probably 3 players away from having a complete team: inside linebacker, right guard, and free safety. We have a legit shot next year!

For weeks I have been saying how I don't like Romo as our QB and that he makes too many mistakes and I've been hard on him. He will make plays to win games. That is the last FG he'll ever hold for but he is definitly a QB and he completely proved me wrong.

I think Watkins could be a good FS in the future. Maybe by next year. He'll need to get more experience though. I agree with the others. We also need an End.

The guy has started 10 games, how come everyone hugs eli mannings nuts and keep saying its only his 40th start, yet everytime romo has a bad game they bash him, the guy for the most part this year has played well, he has the tools to be a very good qb. he will learn and get better.

I've been critical of him. More then anyone else on this board. But he showed that is clutch tonight. He won't be holding for a PAT or FG anymore in his career.

Sorry but once we had the lead in the East...and our fate in our own hands...and blew it... I can't possibly call it a good season.

No how.

No way.
