This surprising season has been a real joy so far. Not just the records that are falling, or a corner being turned. But each win is a very big pleasure, and so reminiscent of the early nineties in one distinct way.
Twenty years has a way of glossing over the road bumps, but today's game reminded me of the trek. Today wasn't as clean as I would have liked it. While there are those who ridicule Eli, if you give him any time at all, he can cut up a defense. He showed that today.
That last drive for points for the New Yorks illustrated how accurate he is. But it also brought back the days of the triplets. Not so much this version is like them. But how the games are still tough.
My heart tells me I want this team to go the distance. But heading into this game I was worried. I will be again this next week, because they are division rivals.
But this is the way of a team pressing toward the play-offs and perhaps something special on the other end. It happened every time a Landry team dominated. It happened with both Jimmy teams, and even more so with the Barry led team.
So this is what you get. Nail-biting, moving ahead, relaxing, then the other team makes a push, and you go tight inside until the one play that seals it.
It's all part of the deal.
You know boys, I'm having a really good time with this Cowboy team.
