ITS: Before hiring a DC in Dallas for 2025, hire Troy Aikman as GM

Jerry will never hire a great HC and especially never a great GM because he must 24/7 be the centerpiece of this franchise. As long as he is breathing he will fill that role.

In essence, this entire discussion is an exercise in futility because Jerry Jones will never cede power. Troy Aikman’s abilities or inabilities as an NFL executive will never be witnessed here.
I am talking about on another team, not Cowboys

We need to stop it with the Troy stuff. It's not going to ever happen. He has a beef with the Jones boys and the fan base. It is what it is. We must accept it.

I'll drink an 8 to that...

mr sun---problem for me...there better be at least 2 cases of 8....cant stop with just one....i think i have Lays potato chip blood in me?

Who cares if he’s a qualified as Jerry though? Is Jerry a good GM to you?
Not at all.

However. I would expect Aikman to do what he did when he got into broadcasting and work his tail off to learn.

Jerry doesn’t believe he has anything to learn.

That’s the difference.

And Troy is the only person on this planet with the ability to learn on the job? Can’t go and get someone from San Fran or Rams front office? Want someone green..it makes no sense at all. Just like you not wanting to trade a 2nd for Aubrey.

Again how did you get all the jones on the same plane that went down in the atlantic in this scenario?

Anything other than what they have been doing for 30 years makes sense.

Literally anything.

Not wanting to trade Aubrey for a second with their history of second rounders makes sense. Just not to you.

Yeah it doesn't make sense. There are busts any round so that means you don't want an extra 1st rounder because you are afraid they may draft the next Taco or Maze? It's silly logic.

mr Super Yacht Jerry profile man-----Jerry will never relinquish reins no matter how bad hurts team...i should not do it...but that

is why i go out of my way to mock him
Shoot the Messenger... It's what you do.
You are not worth mocking.... How do ya like that.

It would be somewhat funny to see the board turn viciously against Aikman.

While we’re at it:

Deion-HC
Irvin-WR coach
Emmitt-Rb Coach
Romo-OC

Ware-DL coach
Sean Lee-DC

Dan Bailey-STs

Just go all in on awful unserious ideas/
whats to turn against,. its to late for a GM now. Might as well hire him in 10 years when BS will be fired.

most fans dont understand the job of the GM. hiring a staff last year would have been crucial.

Not that im against some of the coaches hired, but i think Troy would not have gone with Eberflus.

My god you just don’t get it.

Yes there are busts in every round.

Other franchises however don’t utilize the second round to take risks on knuckleheads and bad players. Other teams don’t sit there and take Schoonmaker because they are dead set on getting a tight end regardless of the value.

I’m saying THIS TEAM shouldn’t be trusted getting rid of an all pro and replacing him via the second round of the draft based on THEIR HISTORY and decision making in the second round.

If they would stick to their board in the second and not let Jerry play with his toy in the second I’d be more inclined.

Oh I get it. You can’t get mad because I don’t agree with you lol. The question is what I would do not what Jerry would do. And even then I’d still take the 2nd rounder. I just don’t agree with you. I’m not keeping a kicker because I’m afraid what may happen in the 2nd. Like I said earlier if that’s the case why even covet any pick? Busts happen in the first round especially lately. We are literally just coming off of Guyton and Mazi..

I’ve seen nothing to suggest Aikman is qualified and just because Jerry sucks doesn’t make Aikman qualified.
He will change the country club culture here. Hold everyone accountable. I think he would bring in qualified staff to evaluate players too. He would want to win. Whatever that takes.

I disagree MC. One of the most successful GMs in the league right now is SF’s John Lynch who went from the broadcast booth to front office and has been highly successful.

Troy knows a ton more about how the modern NFL works with his connection to coaches, players and even other executives than most. He’s more than qualified IMO.
This with a bullet bob haze

why give up a nice cushy 17-18 week job for a year round job where you are constantly criticized?
Aikman maybe bored now. Wants a challenge and boy the Cowboys would be one. He is rich enough now to do whatever he likes. He is already a Cowboys legend. Imagine him changing this team back to its glory days. He would be a god to cowboys fans

Troy would be great. As a professional, he's everything the Joneses aren't. Even going back to his playing days.

He would demand results, hold ppl accountable, and work his *** off to improve the team. And he's not family.

It's a dead horse, but not having someone like that as a GM is the reason we're in a thirty year drought.
