On the east coast and Nick Folk is still on the team. He's to mentally fragile to be of any use to us now. The Turk needs to
visit Mr. Folk and hand him his walking papers.

There are multiple visits required by the Turk to get this thing on course.

Dunham and Miller were saying this morning they wouldn't be surprised if he were cut tonight.

I dunno. I hate that we might have lost him for good after he was so money for us his first two years. I'd almost hope he snapped out of it, as much as people would hate keeping him.

I think they'd be better off claiming he has hip issues and putting him on IR.Let him get away from the game and see what he has when camp starts up next year.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the surgery. Maybe this is just an off year.

I would just hate to cut him and see him play well again somewhere else, while we are stuck using 3 different kickers a year again.

Either way, I hope Buehler is getting a lot of practice time in on field goals this week.

Ill give him 1 more chance.

He has kicked a lot of clutch kicks for us and i'll give him 1 more chance just based on loyalty.

Galloway just walked by Irvins show and said Buehler is gonna kick FGs this week. Not sure if he was just messing around or if he knows a change will be made. Wade will tell us in his PC i guess.

Just saw this on ESPN.com

SOURCE: BUEHLER COULD REPLACE FOLK

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys will solve their kicking situation by staying in-house.

With Nick Folk having missed six of his last 10 field goal attempts, the Cowboys have no plans to bring in another kicker, a source close to the situation said Monday. If the Cowboys do make a change, rookie kickoff specialist David Buehler will take over for Folk.

In three seasons at Southern Cal, Buehler made 26 of 33 field goal tries. But in his senior season, Buehler missed three of his last four field goals, including three against UCLA, all within 40 yards.

The Cowboys drafted Buehler in the fifth round to improve the kickoff unit. In 2008, the Cowboys, while using Folk, had no touchbacks. This season, the Cowboys have 20.

Buehler has not attempted a field goal in an NFL regular-season game, but he did make a 39-yard attempt at Oakland in the preseason.

There are two veteran kickers available. Jason Elam, who played for coach Wade Phillips in Denver (1993-1994), was recently cut by Atlanta. Former Cowboys kicker Shaun Suisham, who was 18-of-21 this season for Washington, was let go after missing a 23-yarder on Dec. 6. Recently, the Cowboys turned down a chance to sign kicker Matt Bryant, who wound up replacing Elam in Atlanta.

Folk came into the season having made 62-of-77 field goal attempts. He underwent hip surgery in the offseason and said he didn't start kicking until two weeks before training camp. Folk said he normally starts kicking in April to get ready for the season, but that rehab threw his timing off and he'd kicker better in the last month of the season.

But Folk has continued to struggle, especially in the 40- to 49-yard range, where he's just 4-of-10 and has missed his last four attempts.

The Cowboys changed holders, moving starting quarterback Tony Romo in place of punter Mat McBriar. Folk was concerned about how McBriar spotted the ball and yelled at his friend after a miss against the New York Giants two weeks ago.

On Sunday, with Romo holding the Cowboys bypassed a chance for a 52-yarder on the game's opening drive, opting instead to go for it -- successfully -- on fourth down. After the game, Phillips said the 52-yard kick was out of Folk's range.

Folk's career long is 53 yards. He's also made a 51-yarder.

Folk made a 31-yard field goal without problem in the first quarter, but he missed a 42-yard field goal wide left with 42 seconds left in the first half.
Phillips said he's lost some confidence in Folk.

"Whatever it is, you're not going to make them all. But you need to make a certain percentage," Phillips said. "He's just not hitting that percentage right now. We changed [the] holder. We hoped [the 42-yarder] would go through. He kicked one early, but we certainly needed that one."

I also dont want to see him just walk away. Maybe i am holding on to the past but i think kicking is so mental that he can fix it. Now that doesnt mean i want him kicking the game winner from 45 yards out against the saints this week. Reality is no matter who is kicking that kick i will be nervous as can be. Its hard to find a kicker that you know will hit the money kicks.

There is no way i would cut Folk. He has been money his first 2 years and he is in a slump. It is late in the season and we have Beuhler to take over if we want.

Give Folk next offseason to get straight again.

I was hoping he'd snap out of it, but he's gone mentally. This is a performaced based buisness and he's leaving to many points on the field. These aren't 50 yrd FG's he's missing. These are makeable kicks that he should be hitting, and he needs to realize their are consequences.

does wade even have the power to bench, nevermind cut Folk?

seems like he doesn't because anyone with a clue would have had other kickers at practice a few weeks ago and possibly dumping Folk to IR (if you dont want to cut him).

I'm torn on this. I'm not sure that I want him cut as much as I want him shut down for the rest of this season and then let it be a battle in the offseason, and training camp, between he and David for the field goal duties. If Folk can return to the form he had shown his first couple of seasons then he could stay around and kick field goals.

If he can't then you cut him, give the job to David, and go with only 1 kicker on the roster again.

I like the IR idea, but you can't just put guys on IR if they aren't legitimately injured.

I don't know, it is a tough call. I still don't think I'd cut him unless a really good kicker happened to be on the street. Maybe give him one more week with Romo holding before you replace him with some no-talent journeyman who won't last, either.

I think the IR gig would work if Folk would sign off on it.If Folk were to refuse they would have to go in another direction.

I don't know that a kicker off the street is any better. They're on the street for a reason.

Whatever happened to that kicking coach that was here? Maybe we need to bring him back.Just a thought for next year.
