it's also time to spend 1st round pick on offense...the defense has had more than a little attention....they need to grow up and play up to their draft status/pay checks. Their are high character guys on defense...Ware, Newman, Roy, James, Spears, Henry....you never hear anything about them and trouble. They seem dedicated to the game of football (althought Spears looks destined to be a DT because of his body structure)....let's give Romo the weapons he needs to keep this thing moving when TO and Glenn are goneWood;1349519 said:Dallas last two HC were defensive coaches and they (Campo & Parcells) combined to go 7 years without a single playoff victory. Dungy's a defensive guy yet their offense is what carries them, Brian Billick is a self-professed soopergenius on the offensive side yet Baltimore's defense is their trademark.
I really believe that most head coaches meddle too much. They handle the overall team but can't keep their finger out of their side of the ball so the team doesn't move in one direction and they don't have enough time to devote 100% to that side so it's a mishmash.

our defense needs a better X and O's guy....Tony Romo is at a juncture where he needs to get a solid foundation...he has only played 11 games. The defense needs to earn their keep. Somone that will allow them to play agressive will make a difference. Someone that will put them in position to succeed will make a difference. Why would you use a top 5 pick on Newman...give Henry a double digit signing bonus...then play a Cover 2? Forcing your worse coverage guys into coverage. Idiotic. Passive. Chicken **** football.stiletto;1349575 said:I dont get why people want an offensive minded coach when our offense was like easy top 10 last season. We just need someone who can call better plays at key times and oh yeah, we need a defense that can stop teams from marching down the field right after we take a lead. Our defense is what's broke, especially in December. The team just needs fire and commitment all through it. Not sure Norv is the type of guy that can instill this type of thing to be honest.....

Come on, get real we need defensive help, not offensive!

VThokie7;1349564 said:I completely disagree. When Dungy came in the Colts had absolutely no defense, now on occasion they can be respectable. The Colts offense was already very high powered before he even dreamed of taking that job. In Billick's case, its nearly impossible to have an offense with the players they have had. Not to mention the year Billick finally had enough and took over play calling (this year) was one of their best in recent memory.
However, lets look at the Bears and Lovie Smith, its certainly not offense carrying them. Or perhaps the Patriots? Their defense has done them wonders in the post-season in recent years.
And improve the Cowboys top 5 offense? Ok.Wood;1349519 said:Dallas last two HC were defensive coaches and they (Campo & Parcells) combined to go 7 years without a single playoff victory. I would say its time to try an offensive minded coach at the helm.
