Its time for the FO to switch up how they do QB

With the Cowboys owning two 1st round picks in 2027's NFL Draft, they could use both 1st round picks to move up into the top 2 or 3 and get Texas Longhorns' QB, Arch Manning.

There is your early 1st round worthy franchise QB!!!
I think they used one of those firsts for QW

Doh. You're right brother. Darn, sucks, but Quinnen Williams is definitely worth a 1st.

Looks like the dream of drafting a franchise QB early in the 1st round is not going to be possible anytime soon unless the Boys totally collapse a whole season.

Some fans say they are not for drafting a QB high because they believe most times it doesn't work out....fact is it could work out, but the organization will never give the fans a chance to find out if it will.

When Daks *** is out of Dallas, the FO needs to draft a potential franchise QB high. 1st or 2nd pick.

If project QBs like Romo and Dak can only give the team a ceiling that leads to disappointment year after year, I dont mind the risk drafting a QB high.

At this point 30 years later, what the hell do we have to lose?

The younger QBs are showing that they are willing to assist their teams at the utmost highest level, even when things are not going perfect.

Drafting the experimental Romos, Daks of the world, and keeping these guys for the long wasted years that the FO does is freaking insufferable.
Does anyone know how many first round picks over the last 10 years at QB have led their teams to a Super Bowl? I'm not sure the answer....the goal is winning Super Bowls and not "hanging around the rim."

I believe it is only Pat Mahomes. You get about 1 every 10 years.

Agreed but even if they collapsed the Jets get the highest draft pick. Always around the rim is a killer, the hope is a very good D to go with a very good O.

While I agree pedigree helps I dont think that's been this organizations problem. Not taking a QB high is pretty low on the list of failures. They draft like crap on defense and they pay the wrong people to stay. If I look at defensive stars they have had only Micah stands out. They have had some good to great play from Sean Lee, Demarcus Ware is a HOF and as much as Demarcus Lawrence annoyed me with his sack numbers he was solid on defense. Roy Williams in secondary was a good player but couldn't cover a twin bed with a California king comforter. weve had a few secondary players in Newman and Jones

I mean it took us forever to get a NT in here and they had to trade for that. I think some of it is coaching but our guys in the talent acquisition department could use an upgrade

All true. But the first thing that needs to be done is hiring a real GM and getting out of the way. Until that happens, it’s all just window dressing.

Are the defensive problems simply going to be dismissed? We were horrible on the defensive side of the ball and the visually impaired could see it.
After watching this weekend I'd rather put all the resources into the D and then get a bus driver iin FA and draft someone who can do the same and deal with it. Jerry has too much tied up into the O. I'd like a Dak replacement but not sure in today's NFL that you need "franchise." You need D

The biggest area I see with failure of first round QB picks is the expectation that they are coming out of college and ready to be plugged in a produce right away. When in reality what you are getting is a raw talent who is polished but needs the work and support to get them to where they can eventually be successful.

Darn. Giving up the higher 1st round pick in 2027, plus our 2nd round pick in 2026 and Mazi Smith (an ex-1st round pick) to me was way too much.

Jerry always gets the shorter end of the stick in trade deals.

Jerry still thinks he’s a football legend sad but we can just wait and see

This goes back to Jerry's stupid around the rim arguments. I would much rather suck for a couple of years if the team is in the super bowl after that.
JERRY thinks he is "around the rim" but the reality is the team and FO is "around the drain !"
Or maybe the rim of the toilet bowl?

Of course the defense shouldn't be ignored, but if we have a not so good defense than the least they can do is have a competent QB that can scrap in the games dallas needs to win.

The defense being bad, and Dak cashing it in, in a string of games we need to win to get into the playoffs doesn't make it any better.
Problem is we don't have a "not so good" D........we have a terrible or horrible D. Perhaps looking in the wrong direction, if you think the QB position would be the area to solve our D deficiencies. Just need talent.....and the following skills............tackling, eyesight, ball-hawking ability, and speed/quickness need apply only.

....then can we start with the resources part first?.......and see how much more is needed or at least see improvement from being the worse defense in the league, statistically.

Absolutely not, but the guy behind center dictates how much improvement is mandatory. As in do you need a top 3 or a top 10 defense to get to the dance.
Close your eyes for a second......imagine if Milton or even Cooper Rush were at the helm this year.............we'd be talking the #1 pick right now and then the front office would be more confused, as our last 2 QBs ......undrafted and 4th round saved Jerry from even more disappointment......believe that or not.

Is arch even coming out this draft? And he was up and down this season. I still believe he could be a good opportunity

Is Chambliss coming out? The Ole Miss kid? If so, that guy might be worth it to draft at 20.

I'm totally all for this. The Cowboys have gotten lucky getting Romo and Dak without using high draft capitol. They can't keep assuming that this will field them a Superbowl when it hasn't. A lot of teams have hit or missed drafting qb's high over the years, so I say give it a try at least. What's the worst that could happen, the young high drafted QB could take us to a Superbowl?? lol
Yes I believe a 1st or 2nd rd QB can give dallas a higher ceiling than what Romo and Dak gave, either with a decent playoff track record over the years, or possibly a SB or two.

When you look at how low the bar is for QB so far over the years, there is no reason to not draft a dang QB high finally.
