Good

1. Newman is a top 5 player at his position
2. DWare is the most complete player in the NFL
3. Ratliff, Hatcher, Carpernter are good prospects

BaD
1. Our D Coorinater is a moron. He is yet to adjust to his talent and problems the team is having on the field.
2. RoyW, ill use a Bruce Coslet quote "Roy is a playmaker both good and bad>"
3. CAnty, Spears= we counted on them but they have been busts, just being real.
4. Our linebackers have just played avearge.
5. A Henery is in a slump

Bottom line, the D has something to prove. They did play a nice 4th quarter but the previous 11 quarters have been awful. opinions?????????

I think they need to play together. Trust one another. Communicate. They did that in the Indy game and it showed.

Just re-focus on the defense as a team concept and play within themselves.

Of coarse, easier said than than done. The talent is there.

I think Parcells is having a pow wow with his coaches over the next couple of days. Hopefully something good comes out of it.

Tonight on the Dale Hansen report, Joe Avezzano said Zimmer is a fantastic, great coach. But he has to use what he has. I took that to mean he can't actually cover for RW, can only tell he what he (RW) needs to do)...

Interesting thing about Henry. Last year he was getting more interceptions but a year under the Parcells/Zimmer scheme he's back to being just real average.

i dont think i'm alone when i say i'd like to see roy up closer to the los. he can be a little of a liability in coverage but the boy can straight bring the wood and every one knows that. i say scare some people a little make'em think twice when they go to try and read that d. play to your strengths and dont just try to hide your weaknesses right??

I second that. It's time to put a shadow over the top of Henry, and let the others go man on man, and let Roy hang around the LOS like a Vulcher.

Calling Ware the most complete defender in the league is a bit of a stretch, and homerish in my opinion. I would put him in the top 5, but not THE most complete.

A Henry is not in a slump...he is a big slow CB that is good against the run...but does not have the hips or quick twitch musle reacting to stay with WRs in space...he has to touch a WR and feel him at all times to have a chance....get it through your minds everyone...Henry is better than what we had...but he is not in a slump...what you see is what you get....AND as he gets older he will get worse

Got to love him, but I think this is a huge stretch at this point in his career.

No way is he the most complete "player" in the NFL...it's not even close...I don't even think he's the most complete LB in the NFL...not yet.

I like DWare a lot, but I'd trade him for a certain LB in Chicago without blinking.

We've been saying for years that RWilliams needs play near the DL more and so have our coaches. But in order to do that we need a good secondary, which includes a good FS, and we've done little to improve that position except 5th pick of Watkins.

Actually disagree with the evaluation of defense. You failed to mention how well Ferguson is playing and he definitely fits into the good list. Also Ayodale has been steadily improving (did make big mistake in Falcons game) and usually looks real good. James isn't performing as well as earlier in the season and we have problems since Ellis went down re pressuring QBs.

I'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall and have you guys who hammer Zim meet the guy and "talk football."

He was close all night, but they had him covering Crumpler alot, and that would force him out wide. IIRC, he only allowed one catch, and that looked like a mess with henry calling him down, it looked like they were bracketing Lelie top and under and noone looked at Crumpler.

Watkins played deep all night, and did very well, I was very impressed with him. That could go a long way to freeing Roy up.

I really don't understand Zimmer coaching these guys to keep their backs to the ball so long. I don't see any other team using this technique. We only have 2 INT's from our corners this year and Henry has really regressed with this coaching style. He was our MVP last year because he always knew where the ball was when it was in the air.

Opposing teams' QB's have no fear of throwing on our CBs because they simply are no threat to intercept the ball.

We all say that Kevin Smith's career was ruined by the achilles injury, But now I think it was Zimmer who hurt Kevin Smith more than the injury. Anthony Henry is headed down that same path.

Ten Things Zimmer is Responsible for to Date:
  1. Shot JR
  2. Started Cuban Missile Crisis
  3. Shot JFK
  4. Killed the careers of Kavika Pittman and Eb Ekuban
  5. Bombed Pearl Harbor
  6. Shot Old Yellar
  7. Watergate
  8. Vietnam
  9. Killed K. Smith's career
  10. Killing Henry's career.
Seriously, a little pass rush can make any CB look great. Let's start there.

I think we need to give props to Akin, his play has been coming on very strong the past few weeks, watch how he blows up a blocker in the hole, he is very physical.

I would like to see somehow Burnett on the field more, just feel he is a playmaker, but I'm sure BP knows way better than any of us obviously.

The one thing I'd like to see in here is an experienced 3-4 def coord. Honestly to give that job to Zimmer when he had never had coached it, that seemed like a stretch. 4-3, sure Zim is the guy, but that's like asking Barry Switzer to coach the Run-and-shoot. There seems to be a reason it takes years to master a system, and right now I just don't think he has the experience to do the job (seems to have the work ethic and passion, but those are very different things)

waiting for the Roy fanclub to come in and derail the thread posting how great he is and the like.

zimmer is not our problem, it's the fact we ahve a vastly overpaid S who can't cover and when Woody retired we had no cover safety. They don't grow on trees and all.

Why?

Are you saying that all coaches and coordinators in the NFL are good? Hopefully not. I would assume that those coaches and coordinators who are no good still could "talk football" circles around us peons. Still does not make them good though.

The Roy fanclub doesn't really care much about secondhand interpretations of what a ****** reporter said. Heck, he could have taken it to mean that Zimmer can't compensate for Newman's inability to cover. Wouldn't make any sense there, either. The fanclub will sit this one out, I think.
