I've given up on our signing Vinatieri. He's scheduled to visit GB on Friday & if Cowboys really interested in him the deal would have been done already. Also see following website which which encouraging Pats to resign Vinatieri and it appears hopeful they might found the funds to do so. I don't think Jones intended to spend much on a new kicker at all; he'll just get a cheap but solid kicker who won't cost over $1M a year. Website article about Vinatieri: http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/AFC/AFC+East/New+England/Features/2006/holbrook031406.htm

I'm trying to deny it, but I feel the same way.

If nothing else I wanted one of the GOOD kickers available this year. Viniateri is our last chance of the cowboys obtaining one.

I lost hope that we'll get any sort of real upgrade to the K position and the funny thing is that was supposed to be one of our priorities along with RT.

Funny how we've sat on our hands and haven't addressed either as the choices are being snatched up as each day passes.

Well I can understand why we haven't upgraded RT. There just wasn't one available that was enough of an upgrade and worth the money.

Fabini would of been my choice, but apparantly he failed his physical. Don't want to go down that road again. We already did that with Ryan Young.

If I find out that we didn't make a legitimate run at Vinatieri ,it will prove to me that JJ,and BP aren't really serious about this year.
Dumping Key better be a prelude to something better or I'm just totally confused.:banghead:

Is Vanderquack still available? He'd be a decent signing for PK. Maybe McBriar can do kickoffs.

Vanderjact will be a huge upgrade if we don't land Vinateri.
Sure looks to me we are going cheap at position (again)

The chicken little police want to sit back and smile, drink kool aid. But we have not addressed DT depth, WR depth, TE Depth, Tackle, PK, FS. We've added a fringe starting Guard and replaced Fujita at LB..... And cut Key for $1M Bonus.

Lets say the TO signing never happens. How are we doing in Free Agency? I say what are we doing?

I am confused as anyone and not very happy right now. but at the same time i have to remind myself, we are not even one week into FA. and everyone we would want is still out there. So i don't think its time to panic, just yet.. soon,, but not yet.

To be honest,i never believed they'd cough up
the money for a kicker.I can't help thinking over and
over, that this is the one position that kept them out of
the playoffs.Who knows,we can hope they realize that,
and sign Viniteri,dream on.

Vinateri will command more money than Longwell got, and we didnt get involved there (apparently) because of cost, and his yearly salary numbers were really not that much

we arnt signing Vinateri

its obviuos to me that BILL has taken a step back in what should be his swan song year! I dont blame Jerry for sitting on his hands, after blindly following BILL down the road of DATDUDE, RIVERA and FERGUSON (see Von Olfen whatever his name is signing) Jerry is not throwing out money for BILLs 'IR BAIT' ex players (Fabini, Mawae, Willie, Ty and Viniteri)... Since owning the TEAM JERRY has never paid for a kicker in fact we were the birth place of several kickers and punters for years thanks to having a the best Position coach in Cowboys recent history! Look for Jerry to bring back Hoffman when Bill is gone if he still can!!!

I'm one of the few who didnt want a kicker, why because of the cost... correct me if I'm wrong but these kickers are signing for the same money we signed our NEW LB with! and for a team that was near the BOTOM in FG attempts whats the point if u do not improve the team... and I never like teams who think they are 1 player from the playoffs or Superbowl and thats the only improvement they make!

To me it looks like the entire idea of signing a premier kicker (Vinatieri, Longwell, Vanderjagt) was just a tease, wasnt ever going to happen when the numbers ($$$) had been crunched. Id be stunned if the club got Vinatieri now. Hes in Green Bay tomorrow, I heard.

Well Why doesn't Jerry just call you up at home and see who you want and then go get em. that would be the easiest way to please you?

Wanna know why. Cause stupid pple want Terrel, La Var and other pple that do not fir the Cowboys system or should be considered roxic to a cowboys lockerroom. You pple would gladly hand over the keys to the ranch to any FA that would sign here.

I read one post last night that said 'Its time for a splash, Jerry, Sign someone!'? Anyone? No regard to who it is or what position they play. Some fans just want to be on the news for making a signing. Really disappointing pple. Just signing the first guy to walk through the doors not the way to build a championship calibre team.

Rumor has it Olinde Mare was asked to take a pay cut and balked. He may be released.

He's no Adam V, but he's not Suisham either. And he was making about $1.5M so probably won't get Longwell money.

So if we got after him we should just get him his $1 million+ back?
