We can talk about the 2nd seed or clinching a playoff berth with a win next week all we want, but by far the most likely scenario is this:

In week 17, we have to beat the Eagles to make the playoffs.

Just like last year, except this time at least we get them at home. It's also different because Philly has a spot locked up, but they'll be playing for the division title just like we will.

I know we beat them already, and I know we can beat them, but boy does that game scare me.

Anyone know who would win the tiebreaker between the Vikings and the Eagles? I'm just wondering if the Vikings will have something to play for in the last week against the Giants after their loss last week, or if they need to lose another one for that game to become meaningful.

So a Win vs Washington doesn't get us in?

And if that's the case, The week 17 matchup with the Eagles will be solely for the division for both teams, and their may be a rematch the following week, with the loser being the road team.

My only assumption prior to next Sunday is that Dallas needs to win the next 2. Scenarios where they need help are scenarios that involve them failing, yet again, and I'd prefer not to see that.

Now if we beat Wash and lose to Phil and Giants lose to Minny we're in - right?

Correct. But if DAL beats WAS, then losses to PHI + NYG win next 2, DAL is out.

no. if the giants win 1 of their last 2 games and we lose 1 game we are out.
This is not true.

If the Giants lose one of their last two games, and Dallas wins one of its last two games, Dallas is guaranteed a playoff spot.

If Dallas wins both of its last two games, it is guaranteed the division.

It's pretty simple. We have to win as many games as the Giants do to get in. And as I said, the most likely scenario is still that the Philly game is critical.

The good news is this: if Philly, NYG, Minny and Dallas all hold serve next week, then a Philly win and Minny loss in week 17 makes Philly the #2 seed. Which means that the Vikings will probably have to play all out against the Giants.
