Was the off season plan to weaken an already weak group?

I don't see him as a critical piece in this d-line rotation. There are so many options available in the draft; one can only assume (Would I be wrong?) the Cowboys have a plan in mind if he elects not to re-sign.

The Cowboys have stated an interest in him but he wants to test the market.

I think he would like to stay with the Boys but, this is probably his last chance to get some kind of
decent payday so I wouldn't blame him if he tests the waters. If he doesn't get interest from
other teams, the Cowboys could probably roll him again for minimum vet salary. He's not a
"pro bowl" starter so that makes him kind of a nice rotational player. All the best if he decides
to play in greener pastures.

Don't like the idea of losing Crawford and creating another hole to fill on the DL.

Look at it this way, Idgit, they want him but they are not going to pay him above what he is slotted to make as a rotational player.

There are players available in the draft that can easily upgrade his position providing the Cowboys draft wisely.

If Pitt signs him are we eligible for a comp pick?

People keep saying this. But when has this team ever proven to do so? In most cases, it seems the Cowboys draft war room is drunk after round 2.

Are we really going to rely so heavily on rookies to fill out the defensive line because it looks like that. It' pretty much agreed that a year or two in an NFL weight room makes a big difference in the development of a player but the problem is can we afford the wait.

I saw a quote by Jim Harbaugh saying Greg Hardy would NEVER be on his team. Each day that goes by I'm pretty sure I want him on mine.

Yeah, that's exactly what's going on.

But he's a young guy who can play three positions in the rotation. I'd much rather have him, and then add a young guy to the mix and cut the veteran(s) who end up least competitive coming out of camp. I don't like being in a position where we have to hope we got it right in either FA or the draft in order to hold our ground with the DL we had last year.

If you're point is that the draft is a crap shoot, I agree. The Cowboys are better than some and not as good as others at finding players, but it's a risk if you're replacing a solid known commodity with a rookie transitioning to the NFL.

That doesn't suggest you should keep Crawford. But to rid yourself of your GM, scouts and anyone involved on draft day.

Maybe McClay, Garrett, and the new personnel guy can have Jerry, Charlotte, Stephen, and Larry Lacewell kidnapped the morning of the draft and hold them until the draft is over.

I would prefer him to stay, but not going to lose any sleep over him signing elsewhere.
Funny how fans are. They don't want to lose a decent role player, and I understand that, but they want to replace of just about every starter we have with the same type of player.
