Saw on the cowboys home site that he's listed on the IR roster showing he cleared waivers, big suprise.
Now that he is back with the team and we have the rights to him what is his salary? Does he make the league minimum for a two year vet?
Can anyone sign the guy or are IR guys untouchable?
Do they have to change his roster status at all before training camp next year?

His salary is still the same

Nobody can sign a player off your IR

He will get an injury settlement and be released outright, there is no next year for him

The bottom line is that he doesn't have to accept an injury settlement...he'll get every penny of his signing bonus.

You mean he will get every penny of his salary? His signing bonus was a done deal anyway.

If Stephen Jones could somehow convince him to take a lump sum instead of having his salary trickle in weekly he could still get a settlement. Otherwise he gets his salary in weekly installments and will be released at the end of the year. I do not see him coming back next year but it is technically possible since we will still have the rights to him.

He can still be with the team next year, I think March 1st is the deadline for the team to sign. If he was placed directly on IR then he will receive his entire year's salary. And will remain on the roster next year. Unless they do cut him as you said. I am not sure how it is when they are cut, then clear waivers as to their contract. I think there is more to it than getting his entire pay. Usually JJ has injury clauses, or use to and getting a reduced pay. So many rules and variations any more, it is hard to keep up with them and the constant changes.
