Jaelan Phillips traded to Eagles

I believe he ran afoul of the coaching staff. He's kinda a head case. But so is Jalen Carter and he's working out fine in Philly. Maybe they are better at dealing with players who have mental issues. In any case, it cost them next to nothing to kick the tires on a 28 year old former all-pro CB.

You are really going to debate Howie's moves after all the success that team has had?
Hard to say really I have more faith in the ravens FO than the eagles. Much more telling that Ravens who traded a pick for Alexander was willing to trade him again for a pick. I agree he probably ran afoul of the coaching staff but Eagles already have some malcontent in their locker room.

People are missing the point.

Moves like this make sense for Phllly. They are a legit contender. We are not. So I don’t get the angst here from some that they made a move and we didn’t.

This is all true, but folks are tired of watching the Eagles play 4D chess while the Jones Boyz continue to play checkers, which I get.

You forgot to mention if Phillips walks in free agency and signs somewhere else, the Eagles will get draft compensation (same situation as Pickens here).
I didn't forget to mention it at at, I literally wrote they could potentially get a 4th if he plays good and leaves ? I wrote all 3 scenarios, he plays good but is still affordable they could sign him, he balls out and you can't sign him you might be looking at a 4th, or worst case he's god awful then who cares you still have 2x3rds and Miami ate most of his money.

there's probably a 50/50 chance that they either resign him or he leaves and they get a 4th.

What? The ravens haven't been to a Super Bowl since 2013. The Eagles have been to 2 of that last 3 and have 2 rings in the past 7 years. It's not even close.

My bad. Missed it.

Howie is one of the best GM’s in the league. It is what it is.

On a cowboys note. I am to the point where I hope they are sellers rather than buyers. Sell now. Rebuild the whole defense this offseason.

Why have more faith in a team that has not reached the SB in 12 years vs one that has reached the Super Bowl 3 times in seven years and won 2 of them?

I think folks at this point want to see some sign of life from the front office.

I would agree on the cowboy note. They had a prime opportunity to show the front office they should be buyers against Denver and completely whiffed.

Idk if they have much to truly sell, but I’m kinda hoping they don’t go wasting resources on rentals at this point.

Point is when we had those 12-5 seasons, what trades and FA signings were we making to try and get over the hump?

Bottomline is some teams are constantly trying to get better. The Jones’ are content with past successes from 30+ years ago that was primarily due to Jimmy.

Jerry’s main focus is making $$$, whether its the Cowboys or his outside ventures.

Last time the Ravens won a Super Bowl my first grand child wasn’t born. She’s in middle school now and watched the last two Super Bowls on TV.

Personally I don't think you want Jerry and Co. making moves to keep up. The season was pretty much sunk when they assembled the current coaching staff and current defensive talent. Basically one big ball of mistakes. The last thing you want is to rely on the same idiots who made those mistakes to go out and rectify them. Let Jerry play with his natural gas play. Wasn't like this team and collection of talent is going to win and/or contend for anything.

It’s a higher price than I would be willing to pay for a half season rental.

I’m glad it isn’t Dallas paying that price.
That's EXACTLY how Jerry and our front office think.

Meanwhile, Roseman is wheeling and dealing EVERY year to make sure they are competing.
We LOVE our draft picked, we so dearly cherish them and keep planning the draft board.

I heard Jimmy said that he made over 50 trades while at Dallas. Something no one heard of before and since then successful teams are doing the same.

Pickens if they don’t plan to re-sign him. If they do. Then keep him.

Given the circumstances, it made sense for the Eagles to make the deal.

It did not make sense for the Cowboys.

I give respect to them for trying to make their team better.
Not players I would really want for the price but even if they are depth pieces it still helps their team.

I no longer think the cowboys will be trading for a player unless some thing pops up out of the blue.
