Though this picture is a few days old, it's probably a good thing that the Jags aren't playing at home this week:

What are you talking about this football and I still can see grass you play even if you need scuba gear.:laugh2:

So does their field really have a ridiculous riser right down the middle as the picture depicts? That looks bush league.

It makes me think of Bull Durham when they turned the sprinklers on and then pretended to play baseball on the muddy field.

IIRC, Texas Stadium has a similar crown. I remember seeing a lot of games where the announcers would talk about it.

I'm guessing it would be by design so water doesn't pool in the middle and runs away to the sides. However, one would think a proper drainage system should take care of that.

Correct WG. I believe Texas Stadium has the maximum crown allowed by the league. At least I heard that somewhere.

I love to watch games played in mud and slop.

Every field has a crown... keeps the water from settling in the middle of the field.

Right, but some crowns are bigger (or taller) than others.

They do that so the water will RUN OFF. But when the sidelines are so flooded this is what remains.

Yes. I don't remember anything that ridiculous though. Then again, I wasn't looking for a risers in the middle of the field. ;)

I use to hate it. You'd be going for the big kill shot, got the guy lined up and bam, you slip and he goes down on top of you.

So many missed tackles :(

But lots of mud and dirtiness

Of course my teachers didn't like the fact that i was coming into my first class of the day, full of mud and smelling like someone that' didn't take a shower, but meh, who are they to deny me my right of looking like a fool?

That's odd. Most placekickers hate a muddy field. :D

When Jerry put in the new turf, the crown was lessened.

Was this a quote from a wise old cowboy?
