I was just thinking, didn't Parcells want to get Jake Delhomme when he first came to Dallas? And what happened? Panthers gave him more money, or Jerry Jones didn't want to sign him? Did Parcells wait too long to sign him? If anyone could let me know, it would be greatly appreciated. Sucks...we coulda had Delhomme.

I think it was more of a case of giving Q and Hutch every chance to become the long-term answer.

Obviously Delhomme would have been a great choice.

I'm sick of "bus drivers". :(

My recollection is that Parcells had a very good meeting with Delhomme...but the Panthers outbid us.

$4.5 million per year is supposed to buy you better decisions than this.

Yeah well, Getting Rid of Kicking coach is one of his finer decisions too and not to mention David Lee the QB coach :D

Any second now, someone is gonna post something like "Oh, so YOU knew Delhomme was gonna be a good QB?"

...as if WE are being compensated $4.5 mil to make decisions like these.

Yes, it was also Panthers said he pretty much would be the starter, as Dallas said he was not gauranteed that. He was to compete with Q and Hutch. Which in hindsight he would have won the QB position. But the $$$$$ was deciding factor.

Jake isn't that great, what's the big deal?

Statistically almost identical to Bledsoe and only 3 years younger.

An upgrade for sure, but not really a big one. And Henson or Romo still would not have seen the field, so we still wouldn't have a long-term solution.

Last two seasons....53 TDs to 31 Int's...QB rating of 88...started 32 games in a row...in the Super Bowl once...in the playoffs twice in his three years with Carolina...just turned 30 years old.

I'll take it.

3 years is a lifetime in football.

And just a little upgrade may have meant the playoffs this year.

I dont remember it being Parcells who didnt want him. It was more Jones wanting to see what we had. Remember Jones just made two blockbuster QB moves at the time. :D

I could make a stronger case that Steve Smith on this team would have gotten us in the playoffs than Delhome with our recievers and O-line.
