Jake Ferguson, what happened?

Another guy Jerry rushed to overpay. Ferg should be cooking in this offense. Is it because he is don't a bunch of blocking? But he has 75 receptions so that can't be the reason. He is second on the team in receptions. Only 3 receptions away from the team leading George Pickens who has 78 receptions.

It's like Ferg has lost what little speed he had. I haven't seen any athletic ability from him this season.

He sucks. We should have taken Tyler Warren. Ferguson will never get better. Definition of a JAG.

Kittle, McBride, Laporta, Bowers, Kraft, Old Man Kelce, Henry, Warren, Loveland, the list goes on and on. The kid the Chargers just drafted in the 5th round is a much bigger weapon at a fraction of the cost. The Cowboys are so proud of mediocre players they draft who aren't total busts, they're eager to pay them like they're stars to validate their own bad decisions.

Missing the playoffs again didn't happen by chance.

KMET the Bear has been reliable for Caleb

He’s second in the league among TE in receptions
I'm with you Conner.
He had a bad game and needs to take care of the ball obviously.
Horrible call on that OPI call.
I like Fergs just fine. He's a solid, not really spectacular, NFL TE.
He has 75 receptions and 7 TDs with 4 games left in the season.
He's among the leaders at his position.
I'd love to see them get him down the seam more often.
His contract is very team friendly. There is an easy out after next year.
You guys are going to freak out when as you see all NFL salaries continue to escalate. The cap is exploding, and so will salaries across the board.
Ferguson is a good value for his contract.
I also like Spann Ford a lot.
He's a GREAT blocking TE.
We need Schoon to step up and be a better #2, but given his draft position, I doubt we will move on just yet.
Funny I remember everyone on this board also hated Dalton Schultz, another very solid NFL TE.

He had 14 targets and caught 13 passes. You may be right about it means you are not getting your other recievers open but it also means he is getting open and catching the ball

I agree he catches them but you aren’t going to scare anyone with the TE doing all the catching.

75 receptions for 554 yards and 7 TDs.

I’m not happy with the fumbles, but come on, guys. He moves the chains, and those are pretty good numbers for a TE with Lamb and Pickens as options.
He gives good effort too.

The one thing holding him back right now is his boy, er, I mean, girlfriend.

He should, uh, transition away from "her."

Believe he was the 7th or 8th highest paid TE in the league, he's nowhere near that value wise. It's a horrible contract, luckily can get out of it next year and likely should, if he wants to be paid as the 20-25th TE he can stay.

Lost focus. Some players can't handle the pressure, big contract and fame does them in.

I think Fergie was overpaid. But I also think some of the criticism of him is short-sighted. JF is not nor will he ever be a superstar TE in the Gronkowski mold. He’s solid but he’s not spectacular. Good, not great.

IMO fans usually fall into the trap of if a guy is paid big, most then think he must be a superstar. But the NFL market value pay scales are not based like that.

The other thing to keep in mind is sometimes when a player does not have a great game, we forget that the other teams we play have good players too who are working just as hard to stop your team’s talent.

Great offensive players are great because they are very hard to consistently stop. Good players are not as consistent. Doesn’t mean they aren’t trying. Sometimes the other teams we play executes better, is coached better, scouts better, etc.

I’d like to see them use Ferg down the field more but that’s the way this scheme works. The TE is used more as a dump off if WR’s are covered

Correct,

He's not making elite money, he's making money that puts him in the top half of the 32 teams, and his production reflects that,
.
. you're right we got to eliminate the fumbles,

But most teams this is what they have, There are very few teams that have an elite tight end a game changing tight end, but at the same time not many of them have two elite style wide receivers ,

so you're kind of trading one for the other but he's been steady and solid all year, I don't get why people are hating on him so bad as if we need to cut him, eat all his money, that is on the dead ca, and go a different direction,

is just insane...

You can't have all of that, I think that fans here especially the OP thinks that we need elite player at every positio we need a All Pro at every position, a Pro Bowler every position, look people go look around at the tight ends say after maybe number 6 or 8 on the list and go look at their stats, and go look at what they're paid, like Dalton Schultz, people are saying is they like him better, that's ridiculous he makes about the same amount of money, and he has one touchdown on the year... He has about similar amount of catches a similar number of yards but only one touchdown,

so he doesn't fumble the ball?

If you look around in that same area Ferguson the money in the production about the same for most teams that don't have an upper crust tight end, but those teams also don't have the wide receivers and or the quarterback, that we have, you have to trade off at some positions and live with what you have...

My problem is with the backup tight ends, the backup running backs ,

some of these guys could be better and maybe some guys need more snaps and others need less because I think there 'd be A few less targets for a guy like Ferguson, and he wouldn't have to feel like he's doing it all same with Williams,

I think they need to concentrate on that the rest of these games get some more guys involved that have earned it and start sitting or taking away from snap for guys that haven't..

That's the problem we don't have a change of pace tight end ,you know the same guy the faster guy maybe he's not the most reliable guy and the same with the backup running back, you literally have to have a change of pace at the position whether it's the vice versa of our situation or not you need a guy that can add something when he comes in not just stay status quo...

Why? He's great in the middle. Middle players are always extremely important to super bowl teams. If anything, they need to teach him when to go down.

You can move the chains but you need to score 6 to, seen where 3’s will get you beat or to far behind to catch up.
Of course, but our red zone O has nothing to do w/ chain moving receivers. Irvin was not a downfield threat, and didn't score all that much.
