Statement from Jake Locker: "I am retiring from football after much reflection and discussion with my family. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of playing in the NFL and for the lifelong relationships I developed because of that experience. Football has always played a pivotal role in my life and I love the game, but I no longer have the burning desire necessary to play the game for a living; to continue to do so would be unfair to the next organization with whom I would eventually sign. I realize this decision is surprising to many, but I know in my heart that it is the right decision and I look forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other interests.”

Locker was never the reason they wouldn't draft Mariota. It was Mettenberger (sp). Questions are if he did enough to earn another year.

Eagles trade Bradford, a number 1 and a couple number 2's for Titans #2 and they get Mariotta.

Mariota will go there - you're kidding yourself if you think Mettenberger will be handed the keys when they have a potential franchise QB sitting in their lap at #2.

No he wouldn't. He's just as bad if not worse.

More YPA in his career, higher completion %, more TDs, less INTs, less than half as many fumbles, QB rating 7 points higher, and he has never had that good of a WR to throw to either... by what metric is he worse?

Why is he retiring...injuries?

That would have to be the reason. I'm sure he doesn't want to be a backup and no one will give him a good starting opportunity as injury prone and inconsistent as he's been.

The #idonthaveaclue metric of course.
