watching this video below is part of the reason I have concerns with Jalen Ramsey as a CB. I don't know who the big WR was who plays for Miami but he seems to control Ramsey pretty good that day.

Thoughts?

Ramsey will be a Safety for us. He does not project well as a corner.

IMO, Jones and Ramsey gives us a duo at Safety we haven't seen since the Washington/Woodson, Williams/Woodson, Williams/Hamlin days.

The little ive seen i think he will be a better saftey. With his athletic ability and skills he will excel having everything infront of him instead of playing w his back to the ball.

Cowboys will say hes a CB bc @4 its the right thing.

That's because he's a Safety and we all can see it. There is no way he will be able to handle Desean Jackson or Beckham Jr without safety help.

Exactly right. He had 3 career picks. Byron Jones had 7, but also played an extra season.

I just hope a safety is worth the 4th pick in the draft...we can't expect Ed Reed type since he seems like catching the ball isn't really his thing. He does seem to play very physical though.

Byron Jones is a little stiff for a corner also.

What are you talking about? I am not even a Ramsey fan. Only catch I saw was the short back shoulder throw by Miami. Extremely difficult even for All Pro CB to defend. Ramsey did well in the game.

If that's all you saw then you didn't watch the video or know which player Ramsey was.
He was beaten on several plays including the long touchdown.
He had some nice tackles also to be fair..but his coverage skills didn't look impressive for someone considered the best player in the draft.

I watched the whole thing and besides that lucky, throw the ball up in double coverage catch by I think number 1, he only gave up one catch for about 5 yards. He was playing most of the game with no help. I thought he looked good.

He actually looked pretty good that game lol I've seen worse games from him. This is a good example of his lack of ball skills though. Besides the TD, @5:28. He drops that in the NFL and he's public enemy #1. That is a surefire TD the other way.

Just clanks off his hands

If Dallas drafts Ramsey as a safety then we're essentially playing with two free safeties (assuming Byron Jones stays there). Ramsey is a big hitter when he picks his spots, but he's not an Ed Reed. He's a grab and drag tackler most of the time.

I'd be happy with Ramsey or Joey Bosa, but neither are going to make the Dallas defense Doomsday III. I still say Zeke Elliott is your immediate impact pick. For as well as Dallas ran the ball stat-wise last year, they were awful on 3rd and short. McFadden and Morris are not the long term answer.

That's weird. I have been one of the most vocal people calling out Ramsey, but that video actually makes me like him more. I like what I saw from him in Cover-3 responsibility in that video. I still don't see a great man-to-man guy, but he looks very smooth and comfortable on the edge in zone.

Ha, me too. I haven't been a big fan of Ramsey, but he looked pretty decent here. I thought this thread was some kind of a trick, like 'hey, watch him at his worst!!' and then turns out that's still pretty good

I actually watched that video earlier today, and I think he gave up just 2 catches. one was really bad, but it was not a "bad day" it was a bad play

LOL. Exactly. I expected to watch this video and see him getting beat all over the field and all I saw was mostly throws away from him.

I think Ramsey is a good safety prospect but avg CB. That said the video wasn't bad at all to me

Good news is Dallas is a big zone team. Ramsey would fit in great.
