Why not give him a tryout? He'll do it for free. I'm all for it.

He's lost 50 pounds and he's been training. Give him a chance. Doesn't hurt to look.

He is looking for money. I bet he is running out of money. I will never forget that crappy performance he display with the Raiders.

He lost a lot weight a few years ago and at least one team took a look and he never made it to camp. He hasn't played since the 2009 season with 6 years of inactivity he has no chance.

This is exactly the type of guy this circus does NOT need. If I were Stephen, I'd start measuring Jerry for a straight jacket if he makes any hint of entertaining this.....

I'm impressed with the fact that he has laid the blame for the most part on himself and while I would be very reluctant to sign him I would not be opposed to let him come in and try out.

If he's under 300 pounds, why not?

It's not like he beat a woman up on a bed full of guns or flunked his 6th drug test. The Cowboys have given chances to worse.

Just as it's not like reality has set in and he can get a job in the real world like we do.

How many QBs can you name who went bust in the NFL then spent 6 years away from the game and came back to be successful? Even a good QB would have a tough time getting their game back after 6 years away from the game.

Cause hes almost 31 and been out of the NFL for how many years? We don't need anymore 30 year old journeyman QBs e.g. Brandon Weeden.

Good point, I didn't realize he was that old. Dang seems like it wasn't that long ago he was drafted.

Can a player play for free under the CBA? If hes willing to be on the practice squad for a year free, its worth it to kick the tires on a look see in,offseason workouts and see if the coaches think he has changed. If not then turn him loose and no damage done.

I dont know what to think, but I would be willing to investigate and see if this has any workable angles. I never knew anything about him in college as to whether he was any good at any point in his career. I know what happened in the NFL. Worth taking a look to see if hes learnt anything over the lat few years.

Sorry,Jamarcus, there is only a limited amount of food in the Dallas Metroplex area. If and when we have an explosion of available food, we'll contact you. Meanwhile, please stay in Louisiana and hope for the best.

He had a well documented substance abuse problem. If he got some discipline and kicked it then I would be okay with looking at him. He would have a mountain to prove but currently we have Kellen Moore as our #2.

I'm not sure why him being broke discounts him. Fear of the poor is interesting in this country.

They should show this letter to the incoming rookies... might see a similar letter from Johnny football if he's still alive in 7 years.

It's a shame about Russell though... He could throw 70 yards with a flick of his wrist... barely even step into the throw...

Now, when I see his name, I think of the "Purple Drank".
