He sucked when they paid him. You think the free version has improved?

He's aged, lost weight, and probably has just naturally matured.

I don't think he can play. I didn't think he could play when he came out but it doesn't hurt to have a look.

He sent these letters out to 32 teams last year. Here's a short video about it. http://www.si.com/nfl/video/2016/04/25/jamarcus-russell-return-nfl-si-films

I was going to say it's a shame that this was leaked to the media. Something as personal as this letter shouldn't be shared. But if he sent it to 32 teams, then it would be difficult to keep it quiet.

Having said that, this should be a cautionary tale for any young player. Not everyone gets the chance to play professional football so guard that chance carefully because once it's gone, it's likely not coming back.

So many kids with such outstanding abilities throw their opportunities away both to attend college for free and to play in the NFL and make more money than the average person.

So sad. :(

The NFL is a young man's game. No one is going to take a chance on him, not when he's already past 30.

I kind of feel sorry for guys like this. I have never liked the term "bust" either. Ryan Leaf was given that label because he had emotional issues. Believe it or not, if not for those issues, he would have been a decent QB. I know he didn't play well near the end but he played pretty well early on. Another "bust" that I disagree with is Bosworth. He is labeled as being terrible when in reality he was pretty good. Jamarcus was great in college but not at Oakland...enough said

Dear Mr. Jones,

I am the king of NFL 2k5. I have won the Super Bowl in every season since then. I have drafted numerous All Pro's and managed the cap like clock work.

In comparison to your record since that time, I can attest that you can trust me to do a better job. This will allow you more time at the bar and begin your retirement papers.

Looking forward to speaking with you.

Ed

He had a well documented substance abuse problem. If he got some discipline and kicked it then I would be okay with looking at him. He would have a mountain to prove but currently we have Kellen Moore as our #2.

To be honest, there's no way he could be better than Kellen Moore at this point. I don't like Moore at all, but given where he was in his development the last time he played football, and he hasn't in 6+ years, there is literally no upside to this move.

30 is young in QB years.

It's not young for a QB who's been out of the game for 6 years he hasn't played since the 2009 season. It takes years to develop a QB and the years he's spent away from the game has stunted whatever development he might have had. He's a waste of time!

I Like him better than Cardale Jones, or any of the dipsticks we rolled out there last year outside of Moore.
