I've never seen a player worse at feeling the rush and seeing the field in college at a top-tier program since maybe Brady Quinn. He's going to bust out hard in the NFL. Buyer beware.

Bust like Brady Quinn or Ryan Leaf?

Or just not a star?

How do you want to define it here?

I agree. Buyer beware.
Though I do think he'll play In the league a long time...not sure just how good he'll be.

Given his behavior, what do you think his Wonderlich is going to be like?

I predict somewhere between a 17 and 22...or middle of the pack maybe slightly above.

Ouch, hope he is off our board, what a headache waiting to happen.

I'm no Winston fan but he was smarter than NFL Young by the time he was in 9th grade

He had a rep for picking things up extremely fast and supposedly had few math award under his belt.
Why it doesn't translate off the field at times is beyond me

To me, he's like EJ Manuel which is funny since they both went to FSU. Lots of physical skills, but lack enough accuracy to be the guy on a NFL team.

I think he is better than Manuel who was better than Ponder before him. He still may not be good enough to have great success at the NFL level, but he is better than those two previous FSU QBs who went in the first round.

Didn't he get accepted to Stanford?

I don't know about that. But he isn't a low IQ guy, he just someone that does some low IQ things...plus he does look kind of, uh, slow.

Some these comps are kind of comical.
He's more like Newton than Brady Quinn.
Newton is a better runner though.

Being smart has nothing to do with being a poor decision maker off the field. Winston flat out doesn't care about authority or doing things the right way.

I personally can't stand Winston and FSU in general. I think that regardless of what his "scores" are, he's a obviously an idiot that has a hard time staying out of trouble. But from a QB perspective, I will say I think he is a good leader for his team but his QB skills are questionable. He's tosses a lot of crummy passes and INTs. Most of the "great throws" he's made this year in the 4th quarter of games have been ill-advised and had no business connecting. In the 4th quarter of the Ok State game, he throws straight into double coverage late over the middle and the LB and DB should've easily had it but both whiff. The ball sticks in the gut of a WR who gets a free run to the end zone. Exact same happened in two other games, the Louisville game being the most recent (I didn't see the Miami game). I think someone takes him in the first round. He's big, mobile, and has a very strong arm. But he's going to throw a lot of INTs in the NFL.

Shaw told him he would be accepted if he committed there, but I read he only got a 16 on his ACT. Did have a 4.0 in high school, but who knows how legit that is.
