I have not paid attention to Jameis Winston all season long, but tonight he reminded me of a young Brett Favre. The kid has got a cannon of an arm and is not afraid to let loose.

Last night, Winston was chucking the ball against our secondary as if they did not exist. Surprisingly, he did not let up nor did the velocity on his passes decrease o_O

What's the scoop on the kid? Statistically his numbers looks pretty good for a second yr QB.

Winston has a lot of appeal. He's big, strong, and athletic. He's the "prototypical" qb in the modern NFL.

I see what people mean about his ceiling, it's definitely there. He has his shining moments for sure but he is someone I would refer to as a streaky passer.

He will light you up for 1 or 2 drives then just go completely cold. He missed a good number of passes against us as well.

Winston is s talented QB who takes too many chances

Difficult to string 4-5 wins together against top/playoff teams when you do that

He needs discipline
At present he is too young and full of himself to understand this

He looks a lot like Favre with how he can wing it all over the place and give you the "wow" throws every game, but his football IQ is at about 1993 Favre level too, which is bad.

The thing about flash is that it's fun, but it's like #10 on the top 10 things that make a QB a winner in the NFL.

Marcus Mariota is a substantially better player right now. More accurate, protects the ball better, and more mobile to boot.

He was very reckless last night, interceptions did not phase him from gunning down the field.

Agreed.

His playing style reminds of me Jay Cutler. Throws picks, doesn't care.

He's also not that accurate. He has a laser for an arm though. The ball hits the turf in 0.784 seconds.

There is something about QBs who have a lot of arm talent. They take longer to develop in the intangibles because they've played their whole career using their arm to get them out of sticky situations. QBs with a good, or just decent arm tend to have better throwing mechanics, better footwork, and learn how to read defenses quicker.

To me, he was the more impressive QB last night, from a long term perspective. Hope I am wrong.

Well, he does make bad choices at times.
But pretty much all the scouts and coaches say his football knowledge is very high....a hard core student of the game. Looks like its not always translating in real time yet though.

Brett Favre provided a lot of WOW moments in a football game.

Jameis does something spectacular every now and then but he constantly puts the ball in jeopardy.

He is not near the arm talent than Favre was.

I would take Mariota over him.
