Absolutely. Guy is one of those tweeners that is a matchup nightmare. It would be a great failure on JG's part if he is not given a lot more touches this year.

Those tweeners are matchup nightmares in both coverage and in blocking ... but not a good way in blocking

They need to use him the way the Bronco's used Shannon Sharpe. I think he can be every bit as good as Sharpe was and they should line him up at the WR position at times too. He could be a match-up nightmare. Garrett needs to be more creative.....

Only 807 more receptions to catch up with him!

Sharpe started his career with 7 receptions his first season and 22 his second season. Sometimes it takes the young players time to find their way. It isn't all about Garrett. Hanna just wasn't ready.

True and in the meantime Dallas has focused on getting the ball to Dez. A QB will also look to his money player and that is Witten. The guy just knows how to get open and pick up 1st downs

I am pretty excited to see James Hanna next year. I think he will be improved as a blocker and I think he will become the guy we had hoped Bennett would be. This guy just seems like he has "it" together unlike the guy he is replacing. I do hope we can take advantage of the seams with him like they do with hernandez in NE.

remember a guy named alexander? he ran a 4.25, was 6'3" and 220. he once scored a TD in 4.9 seconds, which I think is an NFL record.

he couldn't run routes. he couldn't get separation. he wasn't a football player.

Witten run a 4.7 4.8. he rumbles, yet he is one of the best NFL TEs.

speed and size don't have a lick to do with you being a football player.

now, tell me how hanna is a football player.

Hanna appears to be a fast TE who can play football. The sample size is small but he appears to be able to get open and catch the ball. Most want to see more of him although I suspect 30-50 catches is his ceiling with Witten around.

Witten ran a 4.65 and is 15 lbs heavier.

Remember that guy Chris Johnson?

He ran a 4.2 40. He then ran for a 1000 yards. Then he ran for 2000 yards. Then he ran 1000 yards 3 more times.

Hanna got separation last year. And "measurables don't matter, show me a football player" is right up there with "it's won in the trenches" and "defense wins championships" when it comes to tired cliches. It's ironic fans of the team once run by Schramm and Landry having that take.

It also took Denver some time to decide if he was a WR or a TE.

Honestly, I see more of Vernon Davis and Dustin Keller in him than Hernandez.

Hanna is 6'4" and runs a 4.4.

Hernandez is smaller 6'1" and ran a 4.6.

Hanna is raw, but with someone like Witten to mentor him, he could end up like Davis (it took Davis several years to really come into his own anyway)

Four years in college. 52 receptions. 720 yards. 9 touchdowns. Please, pump the brakes people.

I didn't say he produced like them, I said his game resembles theirs..

Obviously TE was not a focal point of the OU offense when he was the starter, doesn't mean he can't be a quality player.

He also plays behind Witten here, if anyone expected him to get a ton of snaps, they'd be delusional. Look at what happened to Marty B. He did well in NY as a starter, he wasn't going to get those stats here.

Off topic, but I also think The Giants offense is tailored to make anyone playing tight end look good. I don't anticipate Marty B repeating those numbers anywhere else should he move on.

Well, he got a lot of underneath routes. In the end zone, most of their WRs are 6'1" or less, so MTB was a key target for them there. I'd agree with you on that one, but I think he's a quality starter anywhere.

Probowler, probably not, but he can be a decent all around TE.

Completely agree! Take advantage of the speed mismatch...

I know Jason Witten is still suiting up for the Cowboys however James Hanna needs to get the ball more in 2013... Dude runs a legit 4.5 at 6'4 250lbs and his hands is better than people were claiming.

Was impressed with what I saw, but with Witten on the Team , it's gonna be hard to get him the ball.
