I seem to recall in the pregame stuff, there was a skit on the field with 3 kids. 2 boys & 1 girl. The girl was dressed as a cheerleader & the boys were dressed as players. 1 in Cowboys gear & the other in Broncos gear. It was pretty much over who she liked more & by the end of it, she sided with the Cowboy.

First and only time the MVP award was given to two players.

The MVP's were DT Randy White and DE Harvey Martin.

Trivia:

Name two NFL players that were not only Super Bowl MVP's and played for the same franchise......but they wore the same jersey number.

Chuck Howley and Randy White.

The Bronco's quarterback was former Cowboy #1 draft pick, Craig Morton. It was Morton who started in the Cowboys first Super Bowl, which was #5.

Super Bowl 5:was all tiednup with 2 minutes left and the Cowboys with the ball deep in their own territory that when Morton snaxhed defeat from the jaws of victory. He threw an INT and a few plays later the Colt's rookie kicker scored the winning points.

The following year Morton was replaced as the starter by Roger Staubach, the Super Bowl 6 MVP.

In 1977 Morton revived his career and was Comeback player of the Year. He was the beneficiary of great field position provided by Denver's "Orange Crush" defense.

The fact that the MPV was shared by two Cowboy D-linemen suggest it wasn't Morton's day.

Trivia:

Which quarterback had the worst single game passer rating for a payoff game in NFL history?

Yep, Craig Morton.

And the passer rating in question?

0....as in nothing, Nada, zip, "goose egg", empty set....

It gets worse.

Trivia:

Name the last NFL game before the rule changes created " in the grasp" tackling of quarterbacks.

Anawer:

Super Bowl 12, played in 1978.

Craig Morton didn't last a half.

Supreme Irony:

Craig Morton was traded to the Giants for their 1st round choice. Then, they proceeded to be the 2nd worst team in the NFL.

And who did the Cowboys draft #2 overall with that pick?

Future Hall of Famer Randy White.

Bronces had 156 total offensive yards. Their quartebacks were a combined 8-25,for 61 yards and 4 INT. The Bronco's had 8 turnovers.

The Denver defense was tough. The Cowboys had to resort to a halfback pass from Robert Newhouse to Golden Richards for the only 4th quarter score.

Knew nothing before the game. By the end of the game I knew names of four players - Staubach, Dorsett, Too Tall Jones, and Hollywood Henderson. How about you?

I don't think I remembered anyone......maybe Cliff Harrison because he didn't have much hair. Thought that was weird. I think I remembered Benny Barnes becauae I liked the name. I was pretty young........and have always been a day late. ;)

But it happened just as you described for me, too. I'm nt just saying that.

Hmm. Staubach versus Morton, I wonder who had the advantage.
