Football Outsiders has us 30th in the league defending against TEs, by far the worst receiver type for us. We have struggled more than most teams. I assume it's mostly because our whole defense is about preventing the big play while allowing things underneath, and TEs mostly work underneath.

We don't have big enough guys except for Jones and Carr. Carr plays outside and Jones just isn't as aggressive enough.....or sumpin. I imagine you're right about allowing more underneath stuff.

While I agree stopping big positive plays is essential.....really essential....I still like the bend don't break philosophy for this group of players.

Generally the Cowboys defense bends but doesn't break and stops teams in the red zone.

I'd rather not let Rodgers into the red zone based on his recent performance.

Cook is OK. He's never seemed to catch enough of the balls thrown his way

His impact is more based on him being a very good athlete at TE. He can run down the seams and sideline and open up the field. His ability to catch it is average or below average. Just the fact that he is often running vertical is what has opened it up for Rodgers.

You do realize that he is not the TE guy that he was last season? He is now a full time FS and I feel he has done a great job for the first year at his position.

I don't think it is a coincidence that Carr/Mo have their best seasons. Brown is playing like a first round pick and Wilcox/Church are also playing some of the best ball of their career. We finally have someone manning center field.

Not sure if you watched this season or not, but they iso'd him on tight ends quite a bit, particularly in the red zone and teams attacked him with great success.

Byron sucks. He's fast in gym shorts, has a world class vertical leap in tennis shoes..Put him on the field and he's always getting cooked, always out of position, always missing his man. Oh but he will break up the occasional goal line pass.

I've been on the Jones train thinking he'll get better. But that last play was awful. What the hell is he looking at? You can't let Cook get behind you.

Think of a good game that Jones had. You really can't. He's just kind of there. I think he's a better corner. Jeff Heath is a better safety.
