Byron had ONE JOB. He fell asleep on Cook and let him get open. Completely inexcusable. Guy is a bust, you dont spend a first round pick on a goal line TE defender.

I thought I was the only one who caught that. Jones slept on Cook on that last play.

There was a huge debate on here earlier in the year about Byron Jones. I and a number of other posters were on the side of saying that Byron Jones isn't really that good. We were mocked and told we didn't know anything about football.

We all said that he doesn't make any plays.

Turns out today showed exactly what we were all talking about.

Parcells always said players "are who they are" by their third year.

Jones gets next year to develop into something. If the light bulb doesn't come on next year-- then you move on.

Tough day for him today for sure.

He's another Nnamdi Asomugha. Checks out ok in terms of physical traits, seemingly anything you want in a DB. Presidential looking, probably one of the smartest guys in any room he walks in. The actual football part? Nah he just isn't instinctive, is nowhere near as fast or agile game speed as his video game combine suggests, and he's not physical at the point of attack. Always grabbing, never looking to lay wood.

I mean the man has played football as a defensive back for two years. Does he have a turnover?

I think he had some fluke interception off an end of half hail mary. Outside of that I couldn't tell you. He's contributed to less takeaways than Claiborne, and that is really saying something.

NA was a shutdown corner for a number of years. Byron Jones is a JAG.

I love how Byron jones was casually jogging around all game. One of those young players that doesn't know what this game means to the veterans.

Good to see people coming around on him

His Combine long jump probably enamoured him to fans for life then he played decent against Gronk so that alone will excuse him for his entire career for some but the chickens have come home to roost I'm afraid

He is good at playing man on a TE. He isn't a free safety. He isn't a corner. He is the jack of all trades, but master of none.

Never understood the fascination with this guy, average in coverage and couldn't hold onto the ball to save his life. Is pretty good at the long jump so I hear........

Jones is average-at-best but this team trusts him like he's an All-Pro and that's a problem. He hasn't earned those stripes, he hasn't been making enough plays to be that type of player. So to trust him to hold his own against Jordan Reed, Gronk, Ertz, Cook, etc. every week is not wise. I feel like defenses are starting to catch up on this

A lot of people are saying Cook will be a big part of the game plan. If that is the case then Byron Jones needs to shut him down.
Both players made plays. Jones has 3 pdef on him. just happens cook made a great play.

Even though they are different types of safeties, I'd trade him right now for Landon Collins. Yes, I said it. I'd take Landon Collins over him
