Cowboys are going to need cheap bodies at 4-3 DE given the logistics of how much they're paying the two starters, and the fact that there aren't any young guys behind them working on rookie contracts if Crawford gets moved to 3 tech (which I think he will). I expect us to take a lot of cheap disposable fliers on guys at that position.

And why exactly do they not have guards and tackles coming in to workout??

Any guy currently available to come in and workout is probably not good enough to start or even be a viable backup. Those kinds of guys won't be available until free agency gets started. I wouldn't read too much into this Moss workout.

They're probably thinking they need some veteran minimum type guys at DE to eat reps in training camp and preseason games. I never understand how fans cannot see moves like this for what they are and refrain from implying someone might see this guy as our new starting DE. He will be a training camp body so that Ware and Spencer don't have to be run into the ground just to get through a practice and our OT's don't get to cake walk through practice against rookie free agents.

If they had a comparable guard coming in to work out, people would be saying that Dallas was searching through the bargain bin for offensive linemen, and we'd have to listen to a tirade about how Jerry never puts any effort or money into the OL.

When it is a DL coming it, then Dallas is ignoring the OL.

He was a complete bust for the Broncos. Spencer isn't threatened.

Yeah, he was so bad Moss almost single-handedly got Shanahan fired from Denver.

I know you aren't talking about me, because I never implied such a thing.

In fact, Moss starting for us would never even enter my mind. This guy isn't just a complete bust as a football player, he's a bad character guy to boot.

Maybe a candidate to take Victor Butler's roster spot...

I don't mean this as any disrespect to the OP as I like having as much information about the team as possible, but Jarvis Moss signing a contract shouldn't spur an argumentative 3+ page thread, let alone him coming in for a workout. There will be plenty of news items to get worked up over in the next few weeks, Jarvis Moss working out for the team ain't one of them.

You never know what's going on with these street FAs. Somebody could've called and asked for a favor. No reason to not look.

Turning rocks.

Former Broncos and Raiders DE Jarvis Moss told me he is scheduled to workout with the Dallas Cowboys today. He is already in town. #Cowboys.

I wonder if they ever just work out guys as a favor to their agent.

Yeah, this is pretty much the definition of turning over a rock. Head scratcher along the lines of the Houston Nutt interview earlier this offseason.
