When your career started bad, all you can do is grow.

He actually showed some promise his rookie year. He had a stretch of 3 straight wins in 2012 winning 5 games that season. He wasn't given much of a chance in Cleveland lasting only 2 seasons. A QB hasn't succeeded in Cleveland since Bernie Kosar it's been over 20 years since the Browns have seen consistent QB play. When you look at the long list of QB's who've failed in Cleveland including a #1 overall pick some of the issues for the lack of QB success they've endured over 2 decades have to be attributed to the dysfunctionality of that organization. No franchise in the league has had worst luck landing a franchise QB than Cleveland that city has been a graveyard for QB's. Manziel has only been in Cleveland one season and already looks like a bust as he undergoes rehab for alcohol abuse.

A lot of QB's end up losing their confidence in Cleveland and can never regain it. The one positive with Weeden's stay in Cleveland is that it was a real short stay so there's still a chance the wounds he suffered playing for that organization can be healed with a better team around him. I don't see him ever being a "starting" QB but I do think having only completed 3 NFL seasons there's still a chance he could be a solid backup. We'll see how he looks this summer with a year under his belt with the Cowboys if he doesn't show improvement we need to move on from him.

That AZ game in the memory of Cowboys fans has ruined his stock in their eyes. I'm no exception to that horror of a game but I also recall other QB's having equally lousy early career games but able to turn their careers around later. I have no reason to believe in Weeden other than I respect Coach Garrett's words on him.

That game completely ruined it for most because leading up to the game many thought the Cowboys would be fine with Weeden after his relief performance the previous week vs Washington. FANS live in the moment here Romo's had some terrible games where many were ready to dump him. I've never thought much of Weeden but he did show some flashes his rookie year and he did look very good in his limited relief appearances this past season. Weeden appears to be much better coming off the bench in relief than starting but if he's going to stick with the Cowboys they're going to have to see enough from him to believe they can win with him as a starter if Romo is forced to miss more games.

INDIANAPOLIS – Tony Romo, Brandon Weeden and Dustin Vaughan made up the Cowboys depth chart at quarterback last year.
Romo had arguably his best season, completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and posting a career-high passer rating of 113.2

During his first year with the club, Weeden appeared in five games, starting one, a 28-17 loss to Arizona. In that game, the former first-round pick completed 54.5 percent of his passes for 183 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

I would be very surprised if we spent another year with this loser as our back up. I still have hope that Vaughn may be a capable back up, but I have seen NOTHING from Weeden that warrants keeping him. Funny Jason referred to him as a young player...

A young player huh? Coach he is in his thirties my friend! Young huh?! You would call that to a young buck in his early twenties.

My guess is there will be no changes in the roster at QB. Weeden is better than most here think although he's not yet your ideal backup.

It's no big surprise Garrett had some good things to say about Weeden. After all, that what he does. As much as I'd like to believe he'll develop into something special, that's a tough transition for me to envision. Perhaps he'll eventually morph into a backup that's capable of adequate short-term replacement of a starter and if that comes about, I'd consider it a major accomplishment. As far as getting a starter under center, I just can't help but think that'll more than likely have to come from someone other than Brandon Weeden. Sorry but I only wish such a situation weren't so doggone probable. I just hope Dustin Vaughn proves the second coming of Romo.

Maybe it's because the dysfunction has them taking bad QBs time and time again.

Cleveland's string of bad luck at QB started when the city was awarded a franchise again in 1999 and the Browns missed on Tim Couch with the #1 overall pick. Since 1999 the Browns have gone through 21 starting QB's counting Manziel. Part of the Browns problem is they've brought in a bunch of QB's who failed elsewhere such as Ty Detmer, Doug Peterson, Bruce Gradkowski, Ken Dorsey, Kelly Holcomb, Seneca Wallace, the legendary Thaddeus Lewis, Jason Campbell, Trent Dilfer, Jale Delhomme, Derek Anderson and Jeff Garcia who had 4 pro bowl seasons in SF but was washed up by the time he arrived in Cleveland. They brought in a bunch of castoffs and even traded for a few of them. They took chances in the draft with first round picks on Brady Quinn, Brandon Weeden and Manziel who many weren't that high on.

They burned a #2 on Colt McCoy a few years ago and that didn't workout. Cleveland has to be seriously regretting the Manziel pick having to watch him dry out in rehab after only one season in Cleveland. All the concerns about Manziel came to fruition now Cleveland is stuck having to look for yet another QB. They have to be kicking themselves with the rookie seasons Carr and Bridgwater had who they could have taken instead of Johnny Rehab. Browns fans must fight back the tears thinking about how great it could have been had their original team not left and Belichick wasn't fired. Their original team went on to win a SB and Belichick went on to become maybe the greatest HC in NFL history.

If Garrett thinks Weeden is good enough and getting better then I believe him....Did I just say that?

30 year old football players are old because they have been physically beaten. Im not trying to say hes like a 22 year old, but he has plenty of football left.

Does this mean we'll see Jason Garrett on the sidelines wearing glasses now?
