I wonder how hard it is for Belichek to keep from laughing.

Jason's no dummy.
He doesn't come off like one. I bet many take him very seriously.

On game-day? The guy makes more boneheaded decisions than not.

BUT- many around the league respect the guy for one reason or another.
I bet there's a reason.

He reminds me (when I used to manage Call Centers) of the prospective employee who could dazzle you during the interview process.
The guy looks clean and can talk a good game. Anyone would want to hire him off a job interview. He's got his stuff together and comes off as the guy who is going places.

Then comes the Real World and all the good game he talked in the interview doesn't translate into the Game.
Then, as a boss- you question his results and he has an answer to every one of your concerns so you let him keep going.

This is a fatal mistake as a boss. To win in anything- results are what matter- not talking a good game about how to fix your fatal errors when in the fire.
Some bosses get tricked into buying into these hucksters.
Some don't.

Jason's a smart guy and I'm sure he would much rather succeed rather than keep playing smoke and mirrors with Hoss Jones.

I wish him the best, but I would have fired the guy if he was my employee.

Interesting.

On the one hand you have Garrett who, as you describe, would be a great interview and has an answer to everything. But on the field, he fails at every turn.

On the other you have Bill Belichek who shows up to the interview in a hoodie and makes it obvious that the interview is a waste of his time. But he gets real results.

These 2 couldn't be more different.

You articulated my personal feelings towards JG so well right here. Great post.

And those are the guys (Belichick) that I would hire right then and there.
My bosses and HR would think I was insane and kablam! My team starts killing numbers.
I looked for Producers, not Actors.

I sometimes miss those days...

If Ware was 26...OK. But he'll be 32 at the start of the season. I like Ware a lot, but I just think that this team puts so much stock into a few players and when things go wrong (injuries, age, etc), there is no backup plan. I don't just mean contracts, I mean talent-wise. Look at the DE spot. After Ware and Spencer there was NOTHING. Selvie had a good season, but when you look at the DEs in the league, Selvie is still backup talent.

Jason Garrett: "We got to do a better job to break through and become the team we want to be.

All this team should want is to be a team that can win a Super Bowl. That hasn't changed one bit in the last 25 years. Though, I'd settle for a team that can finish games strong as a star.

Read: "I'm only the head coach, who my assistants are is Jerry's job."

I wouldn't mind working for them, if I wasn't doing what I do.
I hear they give good benefits- which I have to BEG my union to provide me because I'm a Type 1 Diabetic.

I like working with food. The job I loved the most was working for Texas French Bread in my late teens.
I loved it. No stress. Great people. Good food to eat for free. I once made a sandwich for Stevie Ray Vaughan and his brother who would come to me weekly with his crazy cars and trucks to make his sandies.
Great times. Great memories.

Much better than working for a call center where you weren't a name.
You were the numbers you produced.

I'm guessing you were trying to knock me down a rung or two...
No success there, brother. All I say is from the heart and as true as the day is blue.
I lose- I call it. I win- I call it.

I fly in the clouds. You?

Bill & Jason are both good friends with Jimmy. Fishing buddies. You'd think with all these great mentors he'd learn a thing or two. Still waiting.

After next season, that's where you'll find Garrett.

Assistant Manager: "Hey Jason, would you hurry with those fries, it's been 10 minutes already".
Garrett: "It's a process, I know that it usually takes 5 minutes but with my process I've figured out a way to do it in 15 minutes".
Assistant Manager: "What makes your 'process' take so long? Geez."
Garrett: "Well it only take me 5 minutes to cook the fries, the other 10 minutes is what I use to stack the fries".

Maybe Garrett is trying to get some tips on how to spy on opposing teams? His way is not working!
