Jason Garrett on his future, Cowboys' season, Dak Prescott & George Pickens, more

I can't even turn on SNF until right before kickoff anymore. Thanks, Jason.

And I'm not the only one. He's a widespread joke on Twitter. Diehard must be the only person who thinks he's good.
Social media noise isn’t often a good measurement .

Bottomline is NBC continues extending his contract and has added additional jobs like announcing Notre Dame games.

And I generally am a fan of ex Cowboys who represent the star well in broadcasting from Dandy Don, Troy, Romo, Goose and now Garrett.

I actually watched a Notre Dame game he was announcing, and honestly, he wasn't bad. I thought he was alright.

Everything I reported was factual data.

He became 2nd winningest all time Cowboys HC behind Landry. And won more playoff games that any other Cowboys HC since the 90’s.

I don’t have to make any attempt cause in this current turd Cowboys era he turned in one of the better tenures.
Lower that bar as much as you need to.

He’s still a failure.

Based on what criteria . Certainly not in comparison with the rest of Cowboys HC’s this era .

Frustrating and disappointing doesn’t = failure.

IMO failure is 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons for your entire tenure as HC.

Here’s how Id rank Cowboys HC since the 90’s SB team.

1. Parcells
2. McCarthy
3. Garrett
4. Phillips
5. Gailey
6. Shottenheimer
7. Campo

Campo was only HC with complete failure. Shotty could be next but I’m giving him benefit of doubt for now .

Top 4 all had winning records and made playoffs.

Wasting a decade of this franchise’s history.

Wasting the careers of Hall of Fame players like Witten, Ware, and possibly Romo.

Not winning Championships despite being given an undeserved 10-year leash is failure.

Campo? Of course he was a bigger failure. Doesn’t mean that Garrett wasn’t.

On your criteria everyone was a failure this era . Including Jethro. And that’s fine . I’d agree. But to exclude Garrett as only failure is completely biased, totally untrue and unfair to say the least.

Jethro gave him the longer tenure. That’s not Jasons fault . In the end he did about as much as all of the others this era cumulatively. That’s the point I’m making.

Jethro is the one who has ultimately wasted it all.

I really dont mind him as an analyst. He is definitely better than some others out there.

It’s not an either/or thing.

Both are true.

Jason is obviously doing what he does best right now. He's absolutely at his best when he's just talking and not coaching. The pressure is less, by far, when he'd doing what he does now. He was more of a cheerleader than a coach for the Cowboys. He's finally found his niche at the booth. Good for him.

SAN FRANCISCO – Former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is getting ready to wrap up his fourth season as an analyst for NBC Sports at Super Bowl LX.

In January, Garrett interviewed with the Tennessee Titans for their head coaching vacancy, which was filled by Robert Saleh. That begs the question, does Garrett want to return to the sidelines?

"I'm just really living in the present and enjoying what I'm doing," Garrett said when asked if he was finished coaching. "I get a chance to do some college games, I get a chance to back up [Mike] Tirico on some NFL games and then do our stuff on Football Night in America on Sunday nights. Just really enjoy all aspects of it. I love playing, I love coaching, I love everything I've done in football."

As for the team that Garrett coached for nine seasons, he still keeps up because of his profession and the relationships he still holds in the Cowboys organization. When reflecting on the 2025 season, Dallas' #2 overall offense stood out.

Id rather read a @rambo2 or @RonnieT24 or @CCBoy post than read what this moron has to say

Yep, that bad

I have to agree with Diehard even though I usually don't It's about perspective and by the way it's not Jason Garrett's fault for being allowed to stay here why why would he quit? I mean literally that would have been on Jerry you already blamed Jerry for everything anyway but when you're comparing all the other coaches in the history of the Dallas Cowboys just looking at the record and division titles and what not he is not the worst coach we've had and you say it was a ways but you can't blame Garrett for that just like people on here saying weird things like he's ruining them watching TV because he's got a job in the media well apparently as a job because somebody appreciates him enough to employ him he's also got a couple interviews the last few years for coaching spots

I'm not defending him , i'm just saying how is this on him jerry kept him around too long that's on Jerry just like Jerry might have kept Mike Mccarthy and his lame duck here that is now a mistake that he has to live with..

But you really can put that on Mike Mccarthy for staying around that extra year... But even him he found another job.. Everyone's calling it a waste but these coaches all had their moments they were worse like you mentioned Dave Campo but just the early 2000's post Switzer by far jerry's worst years..

I think the last 10 years have been very different the last five years has been changing more and if you a little bit of what happened last year at the trade deadline and and now with the coaching hires things look at least a little better...
