Jason Garrett: Brandon Weeden did a good job. He only threw 4 incompletions

Jason Garrett: Yeah, there were one-on-one situations out there. We weren't efficient enough in the passing game

Uhhh, so which one is it?

Again, context is all that matters. If I am 20-24 shooting layups in warm ups, 20-24 in Free throws or 20-24 in a game across all shots, there is a different takeaway.

Weeden shot layups well. The three pointers a tad off never taken

Garrett can't criticize Weeden at this point. He needs to try to give Wee-done some confidence.

I doubt Jason Garrett's press conference goal is to provide the world with information. The league says he has to talk to the media, so he does.

Considering the very significant circumstances, I'm amazed at the bitterness flying around here after a loss to a pretty good football team. Maybe Jerry and Jason didn't do a great job finding a backup to Romo, but Weeden is what we've got. As a QB, he's limited. And had he flung the ball around and tossed four picks instead of playing it conservatively, we'd be bashing Garrett for that.

I thought the same thing. What a contradiction. Can't have it both ways JG.

I think Garrett seem himself in Weeden.

No, at least Garrett was willing to take a shot downfield back in the day. I'm thinking that Weeden gets the N.O. game, if he doesn't get it done next week win or loose we are gonna see Cassel the following week...he may not be much better, but he will throw it down the field.

He said "better decisions and opportunities to throw to the receivers". That about says it all.

I think the DL was gassed. There was some poor tackling. Very poor tackling.

Church got wiffed by Ryan............A flippin QB!!

I read a great explanation of that. Technique wise when players get tired they raise their pad level at the point of attack and they begin to lose leverage. I think that's exactly what happened to the defensive line yesterday.

I read that as we weren't doing enough at WR getting plays to the outside.

And I don't think there's a great mystery here in what the coach is saying about Weeden. I wonder if some of you guys get frustrated with your hammer because it's not very good at drilling holes. Weeden can only do what he does, and he's a limited player in a lot of ways. That's why he's a backup. The solution isn't to complain that he's not something he isn't. And we can't just pretend he's going to be able to make those plays. The staff ought to have a good idea after two years what he can and can't be counted on to do.

Garrett is saying Weeden did a good job of doing the things he can do yesterday. Other, better players...not so much. If your wideouts can't win their 1:1 matchups or your all-star LT can't keep a rookie off your backup QBs blindside, or your veteran RT gets popped for a hold at midfield on a crucial drive, or your all pro TE can't concentrate enough to keep you out of 1st and 15 or your entire defense can't tackle a solid RB or cover a slant with two players, or your ST units block at least well enough to keep their gunner occupied some of the time, you're not going to win games with the Red Rocket stomping around and sliding two yards from a defender because he's too much of a lummox to throw the ball out of bounds quickly enough. The whole team just needs to play a lot better, starting with the vaunted OL and trickling down from there.

Exactly. I love when NFL coaches think fans are automatically too stupid to notice stuff and will believe anything they tell us.

The scary thing is if GARRETT actually believes what he's spewing about Atlanta not making changes on D or O. It would make sense why he did not recognize it IN GAME so he made no counters himself.

i wish we could hear what was being said behind close doors in the meeting. it would probably be night and day different than whats being said in these PCs.

I seriously doubt it.......Look how we practiced @ training camp...soft
And you think Garrett can crack a whip?

yeh i doubt it as well. maybe Marinelli is going off or some of the other coaches that actually have coached way before garrett.

but not just to hear someone go off or get tempered or "real" but just to hear some of the x's and o's and strategy discussions and ways they make decisions. maybe Linehan wants to go with Moore and go deep but Garrett wants to stick with Weeden and play safe. Just the intricacies of things like this that usually a player who is traded to another team gets all open about when they leave.
