Jason Garrett took the Rams job, because...

If he took a pay-cut, I think Garrett realized he wasn't wanted within the organization, at least from the perspective of players... He pretty much had one year to wait to become the HC of the Cowboys, and he took the Rams job, if reports are true. TOs contract isn't that long either and it makes no sense he didn't wait it out. There isn't any other explanation. That is the only explanation that makes sense.

There's also, the "I need to get out of this cluster-you-know-what factor". We've all felt that way at jobs before, I'm sure. Things can go to hell in a hurry in a job. This year was proof it can happen anywhere.

Jerry didn't want him as head coach here in the near future. Simple as that.

I think there was likely a little "buyers remorse" on both his and Jerry's part. Jerry started having thoughts about Garrett as the head coach, and Garrett started having second thoughts about having Jerry's fist up in him making his mouth move when Jerry talked.

Good riddance...A December to remember is how I'll remember the boy genius...That and how predictable the offense was for large stretches this season

He needed an out of this circus.

His presence is PART of this "circus". He may not be the "ring leader", but he's up there with the lion tamer and the trapese folks. One of the big "contributors" and a big factor in this "circus".

Nothing personal, I don't even know the guy. But he shoulda' never even been in Dallas in THAT position. Maybe a lateral move from Miami to be the QB coach. Maybe Asst. OC too while he was at it. But two years-QB-coach in Miami (name the QB in Miami under Garretts tenure?) does not the OC and Asst. HC, and "HC in waiting" for the Dallas Cowboys make!

I NEVER got this hire. All the hype, all the gushing and glowing terms, all the "Vunder-Child-Genius" stuff, I never saw any evidence or resume' to back it all up.

His hire was the "poster boy" for "bring the ex-Cowboy back home and kiss Jerry's butt" for all the opportunity that Jerry gave him, both as a player and now this. Jerry just wanted to groom this guy to have Garrett OWE JERRY HIS VERY EXISTENCE!!!! Right up Jerry's alley...................

I wish this guy well, but let him learn his trade on someone else's time and dime. Because that's clearly where his career is at. He's still learning and growing and figuring a lot of offensive things out. WE don't have three or four more years for this guy to "mature" or graduate into the pre-ordained "genius" many claim he already is. He isn't. Maybe someday, but certainly not currently.

We got the folks and the talent, the new stadium coming up, Romo's career in the balance, enough defense to get it done, etc, etc, etc............RIGHT NOW. We've HAD IT the last two years too. In this day and age of free-agency, players moving around like crazy, we've got to capitalize on this group of players NOW! Because in a year or two, this won't be the same team.....................................

He's weak. Like I said, A real true HC embraces challenges. He doesn't run from them.

I don't know...taking over the St. Louis Rams and turning it around seems like a pretty big challenge to me.. <sigh>

There's offensive talent over there in St. Louis and if the can get a corner or two they will be extremely competitive. That team did not meet expectations and they have some decent players and a very serviceable QB. He'll run the rock with Jackson there. Other than the Broncos and Jets I think this may have been the best job in a toss up with Cleveland. Detroit is a reclamation project.

Who in their right mind, would want to stay in this CF for the next few years. If I were a player, whose contract was up in the next 3 years, I sure would wait it out and try for a team that has a chance to win. I would bet that Ware can't wait for the end of next season, to leave and get a ring!
Saying all that, I will always be a Cowboy fan, since I grew up in the area. I just can't see leaving my favorite team, because they suck. I sure thought about it in the 80's a couple of times. God would never let me into heaven, if I switched teams. 11th commandment.

Maybe he ran from a NO WIN situation to a situation where he is now the head dog. Seems smart to me. The guy isn't dumb. So what, he changed teams. Loyalty only goes so far and obviously there isn't much reciprocating back to Garrett from Jerry. I mean right now Jerry is choosing a 35 year old receiver who once defaced our Star for a loyal young coach with potential....sad if you ask me. I don't blame Garrett for bouncing. Sorry..

Spin it however you want. Garrett iz da coach. Players r da players. A coach that runs from players is weak IMO.

Good riddance.

If he stayed around, and this thing imploded again this year, he couldn't get a job bagging groceries at Walmart.

I disagree.

I think Jason Garrett took the job because there are only 30 of them (less Detroit and Oakland) and this kind of exclutivity makes it very necessary to strike while the iron is hot.

I think it is extremely foolish to believe Jerry Jones didn't want Jason Garrett around. I believe alot of Jason Garrett's luster wore off but I think Jerry Jones still wanted Jason Garrett around out of loyalty and Jerry Jones wanting to be proven right. I also think Jerry Jones is extremely frightful that Jason Garrett will go on to have success much like Sean Peyton and Tony Sporano.

I hate to say it, but I bet the other part of it had to do with Terrell Owens.
