That could be better but I am willing to cut him a little slack in the first preseason game.Hostile;1582683 said:Yes, but I did not love the red zone play calling.

You gotta think those are the plays they want to keep hidden for the games that count though.Hostile;1582683 said:Yes, but I did not love the red zone play calling.
His play calling reminds me of Norv Turner.Hostile;1582683 said:Yes, but I did not love the red zone play calling.

And wasn't it Norv Turner that had the media and fans up in arms about his play calling in the redzone during preseason games????
They were very vanilla on offense guys...it is preseason. No reason to panic.

The first two drive went inside the 10 and we didn't make any attempt into the end zone? Not even once? Reminded me of the end of the Seattle playoff game. It's like we were afraid we were going to score a TD.Hostile;1582683 said:Yes, but I did not love the red zone play calling.
You watch...first it was camp cupcake...another preseason game with field goals inside the 20 and you will see the media make a mountain out of a molehill on this very subject.Hostile;1582728 said:Who's panicking?

They did that with the team in the 90's and it was made out to be a problem, so much so that I can remember Aikman diving for a td near the goaline against the Houston Oilers and getting knocked head over heels into the endzone and landing on his head.
Later after the game Aikman remarked he was tired of the media saying how they were having problems with thier red-zone offense and was determined to get it in the endzone.
Seeing your franchise qb landing on his head during a preseason game leaves a lasting impression.

Hopefully, we're just trying to be simple with our first game.
I noticed that we immediately went with runs up the gut. No play-action, no shots to the endzone.
Remember our last four or five PS openers? We couldn't score. Even last year we couldn't score but one TD....our offense looked fine last year. I'm looking for some improvement vs Denver.

THEHEREAFTER;1582773 said:Actually our redzone playcalling wasn't that great with the triplets in the 90's either. We would just run Emmitt or draw Emmitt with a dominating offensive line. Either that or Troy would look for Novacek in the middle. We were just better than the opposition. I'm not at all concerned at this point. I have confidence that Garrett will be creative.
