Jason Garrett's biggest flaw as a coach of football is that he is Jason Garrett..

btW, there is nothing to indicate Jason Garrett is smart.. Maybe articulate, but his shtick is the same and gets old and the more you listen to him, the more you realize he's full of it. The guy went to Princeton, but was a history major. Every job he had was the result of his father.

Saying Nick Saban would fail because of Jerry hurts your credibility a little bit for me. Several coaches have manged to have good teams while working for Jerry just not enough to meet high standards. 3 Cowboy coaches AND Nick Saban have went to the Miami Dolphins and had very limited success without Jerry. Dallas needs more people with the balls to play under the spotlight that comes with the gig cause the spotlight and Jerry aint goin away.

All the Jerry haters pretend as if this never happened with these coaches.

Jerry gives coaches what they want and ask for.

Jerry spends money on his team.

Jerry wants to win.

Jerry listens to his coaches.

Jerry is an easy target for sure, but if you think his "meddling" is what keeps this team from winning you're simply seeing what you wanna see. If Jerruh's face in the spotlight, and active role around the team keeps pro athletes from performing then its safe to say we have a bunch of soft guys. Sure it would be nice if Jerrah kept his trap shut and was in the background like many owners, but you are naive and deceived if you think other owners arent involved in whats happening with their teams.

Just got back from litter-picking duty along the highway:

My so much support for Jerra and so little for Jason. Whodathunk?
My prosthesis on Saban under Jerra is that if Parcell could not pull if off (even with his so-called freedom re team matters) then noboda can.
Thx for the responses. Even Zrinkillah showed up. Hey, Z, how long you been out?

Garrett's biggest flaw was that he was given a job that he was not prepared or qualified for. I guarantee there are a few HC's of some of the big time Texas High School programs that would have done a better job so far than JG.

I also don't get why people think JG is so smart, he's made so many mistakes that even casual fans could point out, his great offensive mind hasn't shown much creativity, innovation or consistency. A large part of the offensive stats have come from, breaking away from his game plans and having Romo play streetball. The smartest thing about JG is that he conned Jerry into thinking he's some kind of mastermind and will be the next great NFL HC and making millions while doing an average job at best. Now that's brilliant!

Excellent post.

Bottom line is that Garrett did not have the experience needed to take over the head coach job at one of the premiere franchises in the world. He needed to work his way up from position coach to coordinator to head coach somewhere like Tennessee or Buffalo where 8-8 will get you treated like a rockstar.................and then finally after learning on the job and blowing games while learning, move on to a premiere franchise like Dallas.

I appreciate your thotful response and stuff but i would take JG over any of those other dogs (with all that experience) who also took "over the head coach job at one of the premier franchises in the world." Campo, Gailey, Wade Phillips -- even Barry Switzer, bless his heart -- pale in the smarts that JG has and will show in years to come.
So don't be all Jason has no experience. His innate smarts and calm demeanor are the stuff of a great coach in the making. But when Jerra shoves Callahan into the mix and makes 'suggestions' on draft day, forgit it. Even Nick Saban could not operate with that micromanagment from someone who has never coached. (Jerra)

Ozzie Newsome tagged Garrett for head coach. As did the Atlanta front office. Rag on him all you want, real professional NFL management differed.

And if you think some other coach is going to come in and handle our front office politics better, well, you must know some super secret secret.

I did like the idea of Gimme interviewing Jerry, especially if Gimme can do the accent right....that'd be a pretty funny schtick....

That was back in 2007 when he was the offensive coordinator and Wade was winning division titles.

After multiple 500 seasons with him in the captain's chair......................................highly doubtful he would get another head coach job if fired at the end of the season.

He was a flash in the pan prospect 6 years ago. It would be interesting to hear what Ozzie thinks of him now. Kind of interesting that he opted for the overpaid OC job rather than taking the HC position .

By handling front office politics do you mean..... saying yes to having your owner / GM be the weekly face of the team to the general public, and more importantly to the players, being embarrassed on draft day, having your offensive coaching privileges rescinded, your brother fired, all so that you can cash a paycheck that the entire league knows you will never be able to come close to matching again?
