We really do not need to even worry about them until the post season is over for us. As a general rule teams do not hire Assistants from teams still doing their jobs. The only teams we will need to worry about are the ones that still have vacancies when we are done.

I will tell you the one job I would fear. Indianapolis. Tony Dungy hinted at retirement after his son's death. That might be an offense that Jason would like to take a stab at. That said, I don't believe Dungy will retire right now.

I think Coughlin's job is safe with them making the playoffs yet again.

Teams will be in a rush. They always are. Last year I think we were the only team to wait until after the Super Bowl until San Diego pitched Marty. As long as we keep winning, I think Garrett is safe from the wolves.

2 major problems with Jason and Indy, a situation i know well because my best bud is a Colts fan. #1, Jason would have to let Tom Moore run the O because no way in hell Polian moves Moore out and i seriously doubt Jason goes anywhere he doesn't control the O. Tom Moore has had the best O in the NFL for a decade and he and Manning are like Uncle/Nephew. #2, since Polian has been there he's hired 2 D coaches in Jim Mora and Dungy. Why? Moore.

I may be wrong, but teams can still request permission to speak to a coordinator even while the coordinator's team is still in the playoffs. Someone did just that a year or two ago with a coordinator but his name and team escpaes me. Indy maybe?

As I understand it, in order to facilitate the hiring of coaches from winning teams, a team may interview a candidate once during a designated week, even if that candidate's team is still playing. So teams could interview Garrett even if the Cowboys haven't been eliminated yet.

Edit: I'm pretty sure this is a new rule adopted a couple of years ago.

Sorry, I didn't read down far enough to see your response before I posted mine. I'm thinking the same thing but can't remember the coordinator that was interviewed.

I think the lack of success of Crennel, Mangini, and Weis at ND may make people think twice about hiring another NE coordinator. That defense runs because of the players and the offense runs because of Brady, not anyone on the sideline.
Well Manginihas led the Jets to a playoff berth,Crennel might and Weis did lead the Irish to 2 BCS bowls before this year's fiasco so it's not as if they have been complete failures.

I used that in my Jedi mind trick on a Giants fan in NY that thought was gonna give me the business the other day.

He tried to ease his way into getting digs on me with the Cowboys.
I got him to talk bad about Eli. Then I threw in ... Romo undrafted, better than your swapped #1 pick.
I got him to talk bad about Couglin.

Then I finished him off with....

"Good luck to your Giants... I hope you win in the first round... I need you guys to keep Coughlin around for me"

He got as Red as their ugly Jerserys.

only a young, bad team would hire jason since he's a totally unproven HC.

it's gonna be like when sean p. was tempted by oakland (bad team, bad owner) and stayed in dallas. i'd like to think jason is smart enough to realize you can sabotage your own career going to the wrong city.

and there are alot of wrong cities in the NFL.

either way i'm not concerned, jason had an up and down season and was made look great by Romo's play. you'd be calling for his head if we had quincy/vinny/drew behind C.

I don't think Miami is interested in Garrett as HC -- they are going to fire last year's model so why do they want to go the same route with another hot OC? Parcells is a defensive coach and will want a defensive guy there. If it isn't a defensive coach, it will be someone well established.

To me, the Garrett suitor that will be most intriguing could be SF. If they fire Nolan -- which I think would be stupid but the buzz here on the west coast is that he's on the outs -- they will be looking for someone to come in and work with Alex Smith.
