More effective would have been Romo was you.

JG is not probowl player - he had a long career as a backup, but never could get a starting job

Romo would be more effective; I don't think many guys in that room would mind Garrett's playing career, much less his career path, overall, though. He's a fortunate man.

And we're an unfortunate fan base.

Yep, it takes a lot to make it and stick around in the NFL. Most of these guys just want a roster spot. I would say it is much better to speak for yourself than others. They know who Tony Romo and Miles Austin are, and where they came from.

It's a speech and the point is to identify with the audience. That Romo is more talented only furthers the point.

a fan base that has suffered through 17 years of mediocrity and wants to win, is "spoiled"?

Those guys in that room have a far greater desire to impress the coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Many did not know his background (they all know Tony's story).
Knowing that Garrett "was them" makes them know they'll get a fair shake...it's very inspiring.

While I don't agree with the sentiment (I think our boat's more solid than it's been in some time), that cartoon's great. Nicely done.
