His route running is top notch. He got some good distance on Jones just like that.
Jones covered Gronk with no issue, he is damn good. Witt is just on another level running routes, he gets open on EVERYONE!You have some on this board ready to move on from Witten. If he's done like some seem to think he is Byron Jones may not be the answer at safety.

Gronk still had 4 catches for 67 yards. The jury is still out on Jones.
The jury is still out on a lot of guys.. i have no clue why this defense is getting so much hypeGronk still had 4 catches for 67 yards. The jury is still out on Jones.
With all due respect, anyone that holds Gronk to 4 catches for 67 yards did a pretty damned solid job considering that Gronk is the ONLY "must stop" guy on that entire offense. He may go down as the best TE in the history of the game if his health holds up. That's pretty good work for a rookie.
Just sayin'.
The most laughable thing people, say on this forum is that Witten needs to go. Still top 5 even with the decline

The Cowboys could do nothing offensively in that game so Brady wasn't having to look for Gronk, he was able to spread the ball around. While we were focusing on Gronk, Edelman was putting up 120 yards. Most of Gronks catches came in the second half when the Cowboys still had an outside chance only being down by 7 at the half.
We can argue the semantics all day long. The end result was 67 yards for one of the most dominant receiving threats in the game. That's decent work for a rookie regardless of the situation. Jones isn't perfect and he had his lapses last year, for sure. But give the devil his due. That was a solid performance against a guy that makes people look like fools on a regular basis.
And, BTW, Brady is ALWAYS looking for Gronk. The Patriots have absolutely no problem running up the score on teams and exploiting mismatches regardless of the game situation or the score. Your explanation doesn't come close to passing the smell test.
Brady doesn't always look for Gronk, Amendola only had 7 fewer catches than Gronk and Edelman only had 9 fewer catches. Gronk may be Brady's number one target but he does spread the ball around. As for Jones like I said the jury is still out we'll see how it goes for him this season. He and the rest of our secondary are likely to get toasted if we don't find a pass rush.
