These are two of the most disappointing teams in the league, especially the playoffs. The Seahawks, the defending NFC champs, should have played better all season. The Cowboys, meanwhile, haven’t been able to duplicate their mid-season success.
But both are in the playoffs, so no one is complaining. They’ve done something right.
The Seahawks have the huge advantage of being at home, and they are very good in that loud field. Plus, it’s a long trip for the Cowboys.
Seattle is hamstrung by injuries in the secondary. How will the Seahawks reserves respond?
The Seahawks will look at the film and see how well Tony Romo has played at times, and how much he has struggled at other times. When Romo was playing well, it’s because the receivers were getting open. If those receivers aren’t running good routes and getting open, the Cowboys will struggle.
The other way for Dallas to have success will be to establish a running game. The Cowboys became so pass-happy late in the season, they turned away from the run. That has made them predictable.
The Seahawks need to force turnovers and create some confusion to give their offense a short field.
On defense, Dallas needs to cut loose DeMarcus Ware. He can cause a lot of havoc if the Seahawks don’t neutralize him. The Cowboys need him to make big plays.
The Seahawks need to put together a good running game with Shaun Alexander. Seattle needs to put a well-balanced game together to control the clock.
Players to watch: Although Terry Glenn hasn’t made the acrobatic catches in traffic, the Cowboys need to go to him more. For the Seahawks, their defensive backs need to shut down the Cowboys receivers and keep them from running good routes.
Pick: Seahawks, 28-21.
I'm feeling better about this game!!! :laugh2:
