I actually think in that Great Wall doc, they interview Jason Garrett and he says (paraphrasing) "you watched the tape, and Reggie White one of the greatest of all time, basically quits during the game. Erik Williams was that good."

I can't imagine Big E was afraid of anything. I tweeted Michael Irvin last year and asked him if Williams was the baddest mofo he ever played with. He responded "without a doubt."

Fisher is an overrated clown. Guy is so full of himself. His entire career was made off of Steve McNair. He's had a plethora of quality draft picks since he was hired by the Rams and they still are an average team. I was so happy when Dallas passed on hiring him. He's the only coach who would purposely have his punter hit the video screen just to back up his own dumb opinion that it would be a hindrance. Watch how the Rams go 8-8 and he loses his job finally.

I seriously doubt Fisher just decided to make up a story out of thin air about this particular subject. Others in this very thread pointed out who he is most likely talking about, but I keep seeing people get all upset thinking he was referring to Erik Williams. It's pretty obvious that he wasn't.

Hey, Truth -- I've been searching for you for so long; probably thwarted by all the security.

Difficult to fathom all the inaccuracies in the media these days.

Yeah, I only suggested Erik Williams, because of the context of his overall statement about how the Cowboys were a dominant group. Weird to say the least.

But as you noted, it could've been anyone.

I can promise you it wasn't Eric Williams . He seemed to love his battles with Reggie . More like white was a little tired when Eric came to town.

Exactly...surprised that Woody's Girl would say that. I'll guarandamnTEE he wasn't talking about Big E. Someone before EW or LA is a possibility. I also doubt it was Tuinei who was a warrior as well. Fisher is a Buddy Ryan disciple. Likes to run his mouth too much IMO

Yeah but the Cowboys OL was hardly dominating in '87. I think Fisher is getting his history mixed up.

If it wasn't for that DAMN car crash I think he would've been the best tackle to ever play the game. Dead serious.

I'm sure it was Pozderac. He retired abrubtly during the 1987 season and right before an Eagles game that featured Reggie White and also had Jeff Fisher as their DB coach.

I was thinking the same thing. Pozderac was a giant, but not a very good football player. To retire in the middle of a season speaks volumes about what kind of guy he was. None of the other RT's that faced White fit the profile, Gogan, Widell, Newton, Williams, Allen, etc.

Before Gogan we had Cooper playing RT. Not sure it was him.

I was watching Mike and Mike and they were talking about the dominance of the Rams DL. He said they weren't as dominating from when Reggie White played.

But he through out a nugget about a Cowboys tackle used to get "tired before playing Reggie and they had a dominating group. "

He must have meant Erik Williams and I have never heard that in all the stories of Cowboys lore. I'd love to hear someone verify that.

Nate was the RT before Erik Williams. I heard Nate say during this past training camp that it didn't bother him to constantly get beat by Reggie White because Nate knew that he should be playing OG not OT. Nate did say that he got tired of playing against Jerome Brown because he was by far the most difficult guy he ever played against.

Considering how Nate likes to talk, they could be referring to something he said or did back then, but I don't know how those guys would know what was happening on the Cowboys team.

Erik Williams was a bad bad man.

I highly doubt it was him. Too talented, too good and had way too much dog in him to back down from anybody.

1987 was the strike season.

This story doesn't pass the sniff test. I sniffed, and I would be banned if I told you what it smelled like.
