How many people would be happy with Fisher as the head coach next year? He is a really good coach, but his talent on his team is really poor. I know one thing for sure, BP needs to get the boot next year. He will not start a young QB ever. Parcells is stubborn to a fault and will not admit when something is not working. Starting Testerverde was unexusable and now Bledosoe looks like he is done. The only thing I don't like about Fisher is that he plays a 4-3 and Dallas has too many LBers and not enough 4-3 defensive ends. Dallas going 8-8 should not be tolerated. Bledsoe will start against the Texans and the Giants as well. I have a feeling that the Cowboys will be 4-2 in two weeks and this will give Parcells false security in his quarterback.

I'm sure you'll/we'll get dogged for it, but I would like the idea of it. I'm not so sure a switch back to 4-3 would be that hard though. If you look at it you'd have Ware, Ellis, Ratliff ( he's been giving them fits in their nickel pkg), and Hatcher at end. Hatcher would actually be pretty nasty, IMHO, as a rushing DE in a 4-3. You move Canty and Spears to DTs and they'd be monsters. Then you could trade off some LBs for other spots.

Actually, we don't have the personel for a switch back to the 4-3 as much as you would like to rationalize the idea. Ware doesn't have the bulk to go 1 on 1 with LTs all day long. And, as Jerry stated earlier in the off-season, that this will be a 3-4 team for a long time to come regardless of the coaching changes that may occur. We've invested too much, at this point, to just "switch back". If Fisher comes it will be with the understanding that he will hire a coordinator steeped in the 3-4 philosophy.

Since Jerry feel this way he should only hire a coach with 3-4 experience. I just don't believe we should hire a coach and tell him what defense to run or which coordinator to hire.

I agree. Which is why I think Jeff Fisher is a non-topic. Wouldn't surprise me to see Jerry make a run at Pittsburgh's D coordinator and don't rule out the possibility of Jerry making an all-star offering to Charlie Weis.

I'd welcome the idea of bringing in Fisher and would love to see a coach like LeBeau as def coord. Please bring in a DC that knows what to do with a 3-4.

We need a new coach, new QB, new ideas...i am sick of Parcells. We will never be a Super Bowl team with this old man.

I'm put out with stubborn Bill too, but Jeff Fischer is not the answer. I'm here in Nashville and ther is a lot of talk that he'll be looking for a job next year. He's widely critized for losing control of the team (mishandling Steve McNair situation, picking Pacman Jones last year, the Albert Haynesworth incident). The Titans have had a chance to rebuild and are 0-5 - and it's going to get worse. He's also a conservative play caller, which is not what we need more of. This is not the guy you want for the Cowboys.

There are worse options than Fisher (esp whoever suggested Dick LeBeau, he was horrible)

Considering he wasn't on board with Jones, Haynesworth, or V Young, I'm not surprised.

You know it's bad when you start contemplating next year's coach in October.

Is Fisher the guy that locked McNair out? NO
Is he the one that picked Pacman Jones? MAYBE, But a lot of teams were high on Pacman. I would not hold that pick against him
The Haynesworth incident? You have got to be kidding. He has handle that player problem with a lot of class. More class than most coaches would.
Conservative play caller? I don't remember him being conservative when he had McNair..
