Leotis Brown could make an appearance right now and provide this thread with the credit it rightfully deserves.

To the OP, every team needs guys who can give you quality snaps in a reserve capacity. Fans generally don't like these guys because they have limited upside, but every team in the league relies on them, and they can be the difference in enough plays in games to make the difference in the won/loss column. One of the reasons the Cowboys were challenged during the Wade years is that they didn't have enough depth players who could give us quality snaps behind the starters who were paid a lot of money early in their careers when they tailed off or got injured.

It's not fun, but guys like Heath and Dunbar and Hayden and Costa and Lawrence and Harris don't have to become starters for you in order to be valuable teammates. They really just need to be more capable than their counterparts on other rosters across the league. It'd be great if we could have a roster 53 starters deep, but it's just not realistic.

If Nick Hayden could ever beat the single team that offenses send his way then maybe, just maybe Jeff Heath could get within 20 yards of a completed pass.

Let's hear it for the guys so many of us love to hate -- lol. Just kidding. Lotsa players have a "special purpose" that separates them from some of the more well-rounded fellas. With Hayden, it's run plugging and with Heath, it's playing special teams. It's entirely possible they might eventually be replaced by more complete players but for now, they're still occupying their respective roster spots until otherwise directed (sigh). Maybe it's for the best. Marinelli certainly seems to think so and he's a pretty sharp cookie, I hear.

it looks like the talent upgrade is significant enough that they will fall to the waste side by the final 53 cut down.

There was a significant talent upgrade at the 1-tech position? I must have been asleep this offseason :p

Lmao. Tough crowd.

I'm personally looking forward to the day I no longer have to see #38 trailing the TD pass.

I don't remember seeing that happen much last year, just because I don't remember him being out there that much. Don't remember seeing him trailing a TD pass much his first year either. Remember seeing him get outjumped or outplayed for the ball - A LOT! I do remember him outrunning our whole secondary and catching Calvin Johnson from behind, though.

Honestly, the kid gives everything he has. He just came out of Nowhere State, and got in a position he just flat out wasn't prepared for. That's not his fault. It's not like was acting like an idiot, or not giving his all. He just isn't very good. Good ST's guy, though. Won't miss him if he gets cut.

Personally pulled for them on this Team for 2013 and 14, but realistically nix them from 2015. Wish them the best.

Of course they could be nice role players as backups, but early on it looks like the talent upgrade is significant enough that they will fall to the waste side by the final 53 cut down.

However if they make the squad it's really not a disappointment or a detrimental occurrence enough for soap boxers to complain from glass houses, as their role will likely be diminished.

Breaking News - both are really good fellas that have taken a lot of crap in Dallas for simply exceeding expectations.

Thanks and Good Luck finding a solid niche' in the NFL, but Dallas looks stuffed to the gills full of potential at the DL, and upgraded significantly with Byron Jones and other promising DBs like Pattmon comming on strong ....but you were appreciated by true fans, and if one can claw his way on THIS YEARS final roster, then you're a Daisy if you do.

I can't see either being cut.

We don't have that many 1-techs with Brent choosing to retire again, and there's really not much safety depth. Even if Jones is moved to safety, I can't see Heath getting cut ahead of Danny McCray because Heath's the better safety of the two.

Right now, I see our DBs as Scandrick, Carr, Jones, Patmon, Claiborne, White, Church, Wilcox, Heath and McCray. If we keep nine, McCray is gone.

1-techs as McClain and Hayden, but Bishop might can knock him off the roster. I see us keeping five DTs, though: Crawford, Whaley, McClain, Hayden and Bishop. Maybe Davon Coleman can work himself into that picture if he gets his act together.

I'm not counting on it. Fans have been trying to knock Hayden off this roster for a while now, and the Cowboys coaches show they appreciate him far more than we do.

Only on CZ? I take it this is the only website you've ever been to that has messages or comments?

On this site simple people shove noses in the mud to "collect likes", make a mockery of other posters and most seem to get a kick out of it.

Isn't good for anyone, but fire away at me, I'll play the pretension and spur any cheap ridicule.

Both are bubble players, to question that is simpleton.

Freudian slip? Or are you hinting that they play like ****?

I said Waste not Waist....as in being kicked to the curb with the rest of the trash

Others don't understand this scheme for the DL/Rushmen.

Marinelli likes Hayden and I think he knows what he's talking about. Heath is good on special teams and I don't think the Cowboys were planning on him playing as much as he did

Bryan Broaddus tweeted recently that I "don't watch the game" because I dared to question Heath's value as a safety. So there's that.

Heath is probably better than fans think. He was in a no win situation in 2013. The surrounding defense was such a mess.

He is a really good athlete. His measurable(s) are above average for an NFL Safety (6-1, 209, 4.48 forty, 37 vert, 6.88 3-cone).

If he had to play a game in 2015 he would likely be decent.

That's a relief. Can't get enough of those "decent" guys on the field especially at DB in a pass happy league.

Hayden does look appreciably bigger in his core and bubble. I am obviously not a big fan but I cannot deny his effort. I can see why coaches feel like he does things 'the right way.'

I just don't want to see our NT get washed out on run downs. Hearing Marinelli describe him as another LB out there made me want to cry. Few things have caused me this much cognitive dissonance ever.
I could care less how much 'effort' any player puts out if it does not get results. Like all those stupid participation trophies schools lke to hand out- MEANINGLESS.

I thought you meant "kicked to the wayside" (as in discarded) and that you accidentally wrote "kicked to the waste side".

I joked and said plays like **** because you wrote waste... as in nuclear waste, human waste, etc.

Of course, I never thought you meant waist, as in where people wear their belts, that would make even less sense.

Overall, I was just joking with you, so I didn't meant to strike a nerve. If I did, it wasn't on purpose.

As for the rest of your post... I'm not sure about that either.

I'd be really disappointed if Jeff Heath makes this roster again, but I don't see any way Hayden isn't on the team.
