I went threw and took a play by play of Mike Jenkins from last nights game leaving out running plays away from him where he could have had no impact or no way of judging how he played.

Tight coverage on pass attempt to Nate Washington. Pass fell incomplete as Collins appeared to put it in the only spot it could be completed, and that was out of Nate Washington's reach.

Good coverage on Nate Washington. Collins looked his way, and checked down to Bo Scafe short of the first down.

Zone coverage, Collins looks upfield, but checks down to RB. Never get a good look at Jenkins in coverage, but Collins appears to want to find a WR, but is unable to.

Holds ground, but is unable to beat a stalk block by Justin Gage on ball run to his side.

On a 3rd and 11. Collins looks Jenkins way against I believe Kenny Britt, but checks down to Bo Scaife for a 5 yard gain.

Run play by Lendale White to Jenkins side. Justin Gage tries to hook Jenkins several times to seal outside, but Jenkins does not allow. Forces White to cut back inside where rest of D is waiting.

Jenkins in press coverage against Nate Washington. Pressure by Anthony Spencer forced Collins to throw the ball away early. In short time Jenkins was in coverage, he was all over Nate Washington.

Pass complete to Nate Washington was was covered by Newman. Jenkins was on opposite side against Justin Gage. In short time Gage was well covered. Collins quickly looked that way and came back to Washington.

Pass attempt to Bo Scaife, covered by Bradie James down the field. Jenkins was never looked at, but did seem to have good coverage on WR.

Collins look toward Jenkins and Newman who were on the same side of the field. But has to check down to RB in the flat.

Collins complete pass to Justin Gage against Jenkins. Jenkins almost breaks pass up, though it seemed that Collins MIGHT have been a little late on getting pass to Gage.

On TO run by Justin Ringer, that was called back by penalties. Jenkins was late in recognizing run. Didn't give himself a chance to get into the play at all.

TD pass to Justin Gage. Jenkins may have come off Gage early I think to cover TE, who looked to also be in coverage by LB. Ken Hamlin also appears to hesitate and look at TE as well and seems as he was also a tad late in getting over to cover Gage. Can't tell for sure who is at fault on TD pass, could be Jenkins could be Hamlin or could be both. Only the coaches who know what coverage was called will know for sure.

Pass Complete to Jared Cook on Sensabaugh. Jenkins was never looked at but in short time had good coverage.

Jenkins was beat deep by Kenny Britt, but does a good job of recovering and breaking up pass because of under thrown ball.

Deep pass to Edison, Jenkins looks late getting out of backpedal, but catches up because Edison slows down on route. Even if Edison doesn't slow down, Sensabaugh seems to be in perfect coverage over top to keep pass from being completed.

All and all, only 1 pass was completed against Jenkins, with a second that should have and a 3rd the TD to Gage, that I am not sure who to blame, need to know for sure what the coverage was supposed to be.

Maybe it was due to his tweaked ankled, but Jenkins was getting beat A LOT last night (speaking from watching it in game, where you can actually watch routes develop, not on TV). I thought he had firmly taken the starting job, but if last night was any sign, Scandrick played MUCH better.

Yes, Jenkins had a couple PDs, but that was because they were picking on him quite a bit and his receiver had a step on him. Luckily the guy has AMAZING recovery speed. Still, he shouldn't let the receiver beat him like that in the first place. And one of those PDs was due to VY severely underthrowing. THen on the next play he gets beat deep again and VY severely overthrows. Against Peyton Manning or the like, Mike gives up two TDs there.

Aikman sure seemed to think that TD was on Mike.

And he was fortunate on that pass to Brit.

He was beaten on the second deep ball, but that was not a bad pass by Young as much as it was the WR slowing down. Young made the right play on that overthrown pass, the WR quit on the route....

it was Jenkins fault, he didn't get a good enough chuck on the receiver before he let him go for Hamlin to get over the top, but all in all, I think he played pretty well

That's true. I recall him slowing down now that you mention it. Perhaps a bit of both (i.e., the receiver thinking it was out of reach and just quitting on the route with the ball in mid-air).

Wade said it wasn't.

I think that the TD was more on Hamlin, Jenkins did get a bit of a jam on Gage, probably not as much as he should have, but he did get some of him. Hamlin seemed to have plenty of time to get over, but hesitated in the middle of his path to Gage, that left him so wide open.

That was a great recap.

People forget all the times a CB doesn't get thrown at due to great coverage.

The Titans want to go deep this year, and Collins was looking to go deep some and couldn't.

Jenkins is a great catchup player. He showed it last year in the 1st Eagles game where he saved a potential game clinching TD on a bomb.

The guy prevented 3 bombs and kept points off the board, but it isn't good enough for some.

You either make the play or you don't, but I guess "psychics" that can see "what ifs" know more about his play than the results showed us last night.

What ever.

If a rapidly declining Anthony Henry and Pacidiot didn't take Jenkin's playing time away last year, perhaps, he would have played that zone play in the flat a little better.

That guy from Oakland got in front of Scandrick last week with late separation on a bomb.

I didn't hear the stuff I'm hearing about Jenkins now after Scandrick's play.

Jenkins defended the bloody plays. Scandrick didn't even cut the guy off in Oakland. When the ball was coming down, Scandrick was beat with the late separation, and the safety cut it off. However, Scandrick is the almighty one to some and gets a free pass due to the anti-Jenkins stance by some fans, not all.

Even though that WR broke his stride on that route, Jenkins is going to have a shot to use his long arms to break that up. He's still going to have the opportunity to get himself into position, because the ball landed a little bit away from both the CB and WR. Therefore, Jenkins had more time to get there.

Nevertheless, the safety had it cut off. It isn't Jenkins' fault the WR broke his stride. Jenkins cut him off too. The result is all that matters. You win or you lose. Jenkins won. Next.

Jenkins was behind him on that play, he didn't cut the WR off. But, what we do not know, and only the coaches know, is if that was suupposed to be all Jenkins guy, and Sensabaugh just made a good play in getting over in case Edison doesn't slow down, or if that was suppsed to be bracket coverage. If that was Jenkins guy alone, he was beat. If it was supposed to be bracket coverage then Jenkins was right where he was supposed to be to prevent the stop route from being completed. Only the coaches know for sure.

If you grade Jenkins on a little curve and throw out the zone play in the flat for the TD and only count the 5 direct targets in man coverage, you get good picture of how he played last night.

AdamJT13 could check this, but I've got Jenkins targeted directly 5 times in man coverage (including 3 successfully defended bombs) for a mere 15 yards.

That is a bloody 3.0 YPA.

Only in Dallas could you play that exceptional and not get credit for it or blasted for it or have those 5 direct targets overlooked due to one negative play.

It doesn't count the times the QB wanted to throw at Jenkins and couldn't due to great coverage like this poster has pointed out.

Yep, the first was on Vince, who underthrew Britt....the second was on the WR, who pulled a Crayton and stopped running on a sure TD.

Oh, yes he did. Go back and watch it.

When the ball is coming down or almost down, Jenkins is beside him and passes him.

The guy broke his stride. Jenkins kept running.

Are we talking about the bomb in the second half down the left sideline, because the guy clearly broke his stride or slowed down. When that ball is almost down or coming down fast, Jenkins and the safety have the WR defeated. It wasn't like the ball landed just out of reach of the WR, it was about 4 yards or so beyond him.

Jenkins ran through the play. The other guy didn't, and that's not Jenkins' problem.

Jenkins runs a 4.38. He's faster than Britt.

That ball went 57 yards in the air if that was a seven step drop.

Are you telling me that Jenkins couldn't catch Britt, who he's faster than, if that ball goes 60-65 yards or hangs up a little longer?

If that was the case, Jenkins would have had more time to catch him. It would have been easier.

He only had 57 yards and caught him. He went up there right with him, on time, and made the play.

Does Scandrick jump up there and knock that ball away from a 6-4 WR?

I don't think so. Jenkins has longer arms, and it took every inch of them to make that play.

if Vince puts that ball in stride, it is a TD to Britt or at least a huge gain. He underthrew it badly, hanging it up in the air, and Jenkins had to use his speed to catch up and barely make the pass break-up.

do not go blind homer on us ok. Jenkins blew the coverage. He was saved first by a bad throw and second by his speed. Still, if the throw is where it should have been, Jenkins is burnt toast.

Jenkins played well last night. However, on the play to Britt and on the TD to Gage, he was used like a Stayfree with wings.

If's doesn't matter.

How can you know for sure.

Jenkins broke up the play against the Eagles with a dive and saved a sure TD last year.

Kurt Warner threw a similar ball to Fitzgerald last year, and he jumped over Henry and caught it.

Jenkins would have broken that play up last year.

So, I guess catchup speed is over looked by you. It doesn't count, because you know exactly how it would play out. A CB can still make a play if he is behind the WR for one thing. Again, a longer throw gives Jenkins more time to catch up and make a play on the ball.

What ever.

Last week Britt caught that bomb.
