Just think.. we could have had Ray Rice. lol

Do you really think Rice would have been just as successful in Dallas as he is Baltimore? I do not think Jason would have utilize his skill sets to maximize his performance. Felix Jones was the correct pick in that draft. If Felix gets a Coach that puts him in space instead of between the tackles then he will be fine.

That play against the New York Giants ruined his reputation. He has good cover skills, just absolutely no heart.

You don't think playing through his shoulder last year demonstrated heart?

The guy's a bit of an odd duck, and it seemed from the outset that the team just wanted to work him through his rookie deal and be done, but I've never understood why. In a league where good cover guys are so hard to find, you'd think he'd have been welcomed with an extension, but it just wasn't in the cards for some reason.

Now, I understand why another team doesn't want to sign him to a long-term deal given his shoulder. But the guy sure got a bum rap in that deal (not that it was Dallas' fault, it was just the breaks). All-in-all, I think he handled what had to be enormous disappointment with a fair amount of class. He rehabbed on his own, as was his right, stayed away from some voluntary offseason stuff, and then came back in for mandatory work and--to my knowledge--never said 'boo' about the organization or the team once he got to work after getting demoted to a backup CB heading into his contract year.

That said, it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say about Dallas now that we're in the rearview mirror. :)

No, Felix was not the correct pick in that draft. Not even remotely close. With regards to Rice, no, he wouldn't have been as successful here but I feel he would have been a lot more successful than Felix. Also, much less injury prone. I don't believe he has ever missed a game due to injury. Also wouldn't even fathom showing up to training camp out overweight and out of shape.

Yeah, for some odd some reason it just wasn't in the cards.

There was a report that the Jaguars had a standing offer to him. Guess he decided not to return to his home state.

My guess is that the offer from the Jags was lower than he wanted. I'm thinking he wanted to cash in via free agency, but his weak 2012 season seriously hurt him. So rather than use up his prime years at a lower rate, I think he's betting on himself for one year. If he can show his starting capabilities, he'll be a sought after free agent next year. (I'm still betting he'll end up in Florida at some point.)

Many have posted that it's too bad we didn't bring him back for one year and we must have not wanted him. I think it's more important to note that he wanted out of Dallas. With Carr and Claiborne, who would he be able to prove himself?

We will never know the true answer. All I know is that Rice would have missed more than a few games with our OL in front of him. I have always liked Felix and I hope he is very successful in the future.

It isnt that odd.
The team didn't feel his body could handle 16 games of NFL play.
When he made tackles he broke himself.

Same here... I wish him all the best. I'm just glad he is no longer in a Cowboys uniform. For whatever reason, he didn't do well here.

Well, that part definitely isn't odd. But I had the definite sense we were cool on resigning him even prior to 2011. When was it that we gave Scandrick the extension? Heading into 2011, right? I know we'd probably have extended Jenkins on a similar contract at that time, but we weren't really offering much more than that for what was, to that point, a better player.

It's mostly speculation on my part, but I always just had the sense that the Cowboys weren't thrilled with MJ from day one. Perhaps it had something to do with his effort during the week, though I never heard anyone mention that. I've heard local media say the guy really just wasn't happy in the DFW area and was just hooked up a bit differently from other guys.

The injury definitely explains things for last year and this offseason, though. He's a definite candidate for a show-me deal again. But when they guy's in the lineup, he can play CB in this league.

People are still bad mouthing Jenkins? Listen, he isn't a bum, but he's not going to replace Carr or Claiborne, and he isn't a slot CB. He did well while here, and it would have been nice if we could have kept him, but we couldn't. It was just time to part ways. Hope he does well with the Raiders, and I really think he will do just that.

Yet another dude that just didn't get it.

He moaned and cried about his contract, constantly threatening to leave the past two seasons.

Well, Mike, you're gone. In Oakland. With a deal less than Jerry would have given you had you shown more heart and interest in playing here.

Enjoy football hell.

1) Did Jenkins give the Cowboys an opportunity to match the contract?
2) Did the Cowboys decline to match? Or did the Cowboys offer to match but Jenkins wanted to start at CB somewhere?

I think the Raiders are in even worse cap shape than the Cowboys, something like $45M dead money this year. And the Raiders look to be starting Aaron Pryor.

It would not surprise me if Oakland drafted AL CB Milliner:)

It would not surprise me if Oakland has the top pick in the 2014 draft.

It doesn't matter. It wasn't in his or our interest to re-sign him. He is starting CB material, and you know that. You don't pay starting CB money to someone you are going to keep on the bench. You don't stay on the bench if you know you should be starting somewhere. Wish the guy well, thank him for his time here, and be done with it. He's a great pick up for the Raiders. Stop acting like he's a bum.

Good for Jenkins... glad he found a team to play for. I appreciate what he was able to do in Dallas considering the circumstances. He made some big time pass break ups and also created turnovers that helped the team win games. Too bad things didn't workout in the long run.

I think he will do well in Oakland. They run a lot of man coverage and that is where he excels. If his shoulder holds up, I can see him having a spectacular season there. Then he may be able to get the big contract in free agency next offseason.

I want to see how well he does....he has no excuse in Oakland. Without going into the draft he's the best corner they have.
