So, if you could build a franchise around one of the quarterbacks from the last two draft classes, which one would you choose? I asked five NFL personnel executives that question. Here are their answers.

Note: None of the executives I polled work for teams that these QBs play for.

Executive 1: Carson Wentz
"I love Wentz. He has everything you want: Size, arm strength, accuracy, poise and leadership. I'd probably put Prescott right behind him."

Executive 2: Wentz
"There are some good options here, but I'd go Wentz. He doesn't have much around him right now, but he's helping Philly win games. They don't have any legit receivers and they have some holes on the offensive line. He would be destroying the league if he had Prescott's supporting cast. Long term, I think both of those guys are going to be very successful."

Executive 3: Marcus Mariota
"I'd go with Mariota slightly over Wentz. Both guys have similar temperament and passing skills, but Mariota is a more dynamic athlete and brings a different element to his offense."

Executive 4: Wentz
"It's close, but I'd take Wentz over Mariota. Both guys have ideal makeup, intelligence and the 'it' factor. However, Wentz is just a bigger guy with more durability over the long term. I do love both guys a lot ... smart, tough and great leaders."

Executive 5: Mariota
"It's between Mariota and Wentz. I'll give the nod to Mariota. His mobility is something I worry about every time we play the Titans. He's a real challenge to defend."

Summary: That's 3 votes for Wentz and 2 for Mariota.

Conclusion: Statistically, Wentz hasn't been the most impressive of this group, but he gets a lot of support from these executives. He has all of the tools to be very successful and I believe he will eventually emerge as the best player in this group.

Wentz is #30 in QBR.

This has nothing to do with the cowboys. Just about a player you talk more about than the cowboys.

It was a question posed to 5 NFL execs of which QB, Winston, Mariota, Goff, Wentz or Prescott, would you want to build a team around.

Dak Prescott is a Dallas Cowboy.

If they had said Rayne you wouldn't have a problem with it.

They didn't. Not. A. Single. One.

Deal with it.

Well you did conveniently stop the article snippet just before the part that talks about how surprising Dak is. I mean, come on, Risen, it's not exactly subtle at this point.

I snipped article here as per the rules of the forum?

Go Cowboys.

What I didn't snip was the 5 opinions of NFL personnel execs. All 5 agree with me. They basically said Prescott belongs in the Canadian league.

I'm dealing with it just fine. Dak is 8-1 and we're on top of not only the division but the N.F.L. so yeah those 5 can have wentz.

I'm not surprised. These scouts/execs always will prefer the QBs with the better physical measurements so of course they will go with the 6'4" and 6'5" QBs. If Dak was a little taller then he'd probably have gone a little earlier in the draft too.

I absolutely love these types of stories. I hope we read something disrespectful about this team every week. I want this team to step on the field with a chip on it's shoulder every game. Keep pumping up guys like Wentz and Mariota while Dak quietly keeps winning.....

Wentz could throw 6 picks in one game and scouts would say he had a great game.

Wentz is massively overrated.

Like I've been saying for awhile now, he's Luck 2.0
(and this is a slight to even Luck).

Wentz is going to be a great player.Dak and Wentz will always be connected and the games
will be head liners. The future looks fun.

Wentz is a nice player and has the chance to be a top-tier QB. That being said, the Eagles paid a hefty price to get him.

They gave up DeMarco Murray, Byron Maxwell, Kiko Alonso, a third in this years draft, their first round pick in 2017, and their 2nd in 2018 for Wentz and Cleveland's 2nd next year.

The Cowboys basically traded Jeremy Parnell for Dak Prescott, who also has a chance to be a top-tier QB.

To me, that's kinda like your neighbors paying $60K on a five year note for a 2016 Mercedes while you paid $10K cash for a 2016 Audi.... and the Audi's running flawlessly. :D

But that's a team thing. Give him the slop at the skill positions in Philly and he's floundering. These execs know this.

Basically the more you know about football the more you favor Wentz.

Carson, Cathy and Doug!!! Why is there discord simply because there is an article sharing the opinion of 5 NFL execs? Because no one picked Prescott Cowboys fans are supposed to be up in arms? Who cares? It is possible to have a QB that isn't the League's best and still be right for your team. See Troy Aikman of the 90's championship teams. Never would I have said he was better than Elway, Montana, Marino, Young, Kelly or Favre. BUT...he fit in Dallas with that OL, Irv, and the best player on the team...Emmitt.

For the love of Wentz! Why is this a beef? OMW! The Prince of Pass is good and may become great. Dallas has a kid who is good and may become great as well. Be happy with that.

@Risen Star...couldn't resist man. Lol...sorry for chiming in.
