Jeremiah (don't call me Jay) Ratliff expected to play Sunday for Bears

Chicago Bears coach Marc Trestman said Thursday that he expects defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Ratliff, who announced that he prefers to be known as Jeremiah instead of Jay, has not played in more than a year because of a groin injury. He was released by the Dallas Cowboys and picked up by the Bears earlier this season.

Trestman said that Ratliff is "in line to go" after practicing on Thursday.

"We hope that he'll do what we've seen him do in practice," Trestman said. "The little he's been in there he's holding the point. He's getting a (pass) rush. He hasn't played for a while so we don't have high expectations right now, but we certainly see the light and we're hoping we get a little bit out of him and it might be Sunday."

Still waiting to hear the rest of the story on a potential lawsuit. Meanwhile, he's ready to play. Will be an interesting match-up next week. I hope Frederick pancakes him into the turf.

I would think that the lawyers can't move forward until he actually plays in a game....that time has come....get your popcorn

I hope Frederick puts him in the "rock bottom" and Smith throws in the "people's elbow" right after.

I have this flashback from the movie "The Longest Yard." Just let him rush right up the middle untouched and have Romo throw a strategic missile. Twice, just like in the movie.

What's up with the name change preference?

I read on a Bears message board last week that Ratliff asked the Chicago media to call him by his middle name "Jeremiah" because the Chicago locker room is only big enough for one "Jay" and that's their QB.

How great would it be if he had a lingering hammy injury for the rest of the year? Not even something serious but a Cowboy injury that just kept him at 70% when he was on the field. Just such a false sense of hope for him.

Either wait until after we play them or just let it go. Little precedent I suspect

I wish I can get a refund for my #90 Jersey with Ratliff name on it... I used to love this guy attitude and play skills when he was a pro-bowler.... then he didn't wanted to play anymore :(

Next jersey will have a hall of fame name on it :) that way can't be wrong LOL!!
