Jerry All But Confirming Eberflus Is Here For The Long Haul

What is he talking about Dan Quinn took a head coaching job and Zimmer retired. BTW Zimmer defenses sucked as well lol. Just not as bad as it's doing now. We had a top 5 worst defense last year. Now we have the 2nd worst defense only to the Bengals, who wo traded with for their linebacker lol.

Zimmer was almost as bad. He had them ranked 31st the season after they were ranked 5th with Quinn and the same players.

Unfortunately, he isn't wrong here. You can't keep switching schemes and expect it to work. The successful defenses have been in the same scheme for years and form their players around it...even if the actual DC changes.
He is wrong, and yes you can keep switching DC's until you find the right one. You can do that with HC's and QB's too. Even GMs as well. It is patently stupid to keep a horrible employee because you just recently hired them. That's called the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

So the ‘mistake’ was Mike Zimmer.

Jerry couldn’t prevent Quinn from leaving, but he knew Zimmer had one foot in retirement when he hired him.

Beating a dead horse like Eberflus isn’t the ‘answer’.

he doesn't have the right players, jerry went into the bargain bin and this it what happens

"I've errored over the last three years with the changing of defensive coordinators or defensive philosophies or the adjustments there. When I look back, if I see one thing that I had to do over again, I would've tried to not change out our coordinator every year over the last three years. Continuity, I know better."

Always learning the wrong lesson

Absolute moron

So he was worried about philosophies and fit but then went out and hired a guy who doesn't mesh well with the talent we have on the roster. He brought in a zone guy to coach a defense better suited for man.

He is a stone cold idiot. And if he keeps Eberflus around, he'll absolutely never see another SB in his lifetime.

That's just the Johnnie Walker talking

He's here until the end of the season, because Jerry is too cheap and petty to pay him to sit at home.
But what's crazy is his contract is pennies compared to how much the brand would increase by the cowboys winning a Superbowl. And it's hard to imagine eberflus being the d coordinator to do that

LOL LOL LOL...continuity...as in the same GM for 36 years.

People say "It's been 30 years"....I say 36. I don't credit Jerry for those years with Jimmy. Jerry has NEVER WON when he was running the football operation. In fact, 1996, 2006, 2026...will all look like each other. Same circus, different clowns.
And I'll add this: Us cowboy fans are very very lucky Jerry, the only thing he did right was hire jimmy otherwise we'd be talking about 50 years ('78) since the last superbowl victory.....and you know what? Jerry would be totally fine with this as long he had/has his good 'ole boys club just the way he wants it!!!!!!

I get it to a degree, Eberflus seems like a smart coach and runs some complex schemes. The problem is he hasn't done a good job teaching it and likely lacks the personnel to run it. The Cowboys certainly didn't set him up for success this year so I'm sure the defensive struggles aren't all his fault, but my confidence in his ability to right the ship is very low right now.

Classic case of the 'sunk cost fallacy' a failed business strategy
