I have been all week. I even refused to speak with one of my best friends(giants fan) the other day. I told him he was the enemy and I don't talk to giant scum this week.

now do it in a Spartan voice

I just think Jerry didnt want to take his warm weathered team to Giants Stadium in December and add to Tony's Legend.

Well the Giants probably care. Who wants to be thought of as an "easy mark" for a grand opening victory? Sure, they hate our guts anyway, but why give them any extra motivation? The mistake wasn't requesting the Giants; the mistake was letting that info get out (a la the Baltimore game last year).

I dont think you are right on this at all BB.

Jerry knows the Giants are good, I suspect he put in an oder of preference and the Giants were the team that would help get the biggest ratings. We all kinda knew the 1st game at home was gonna be against an NFC East team.

On the other hand, I do suspect they kinda picked Baltimore because they thought it would be a likely win, and thats the way he wanted to close the stadium out.

Yep, Jerry said on his show that he wanted a tough game and not an easy one.

BTW, I listened to that show and I still don't think Jerry said he picked the Giants. He did say they let him pick the network, and of course he chose NBC for Sunday night when they had the ratings all to themselves and the network could devote tons of time to his stadium. And NBC wasn't going to put Cowboys-Seattle on... They're only going to show the best matchups. So we pretty much couldn't have played a crappy team.

I say Good. I hope it is a headline in all the ny papers.

THose guys up there have taken shots at jerry repeatedly, coughlin made up that bogus story about the nfc championship tickets and during the super bowl pregame segment they all said how great it was to watch jerry on the field when they lost.

So again I say good. Put it in big headlines. Its time for this team to toughen up and stand up for themselves.

and the best part is, I bet jerry probably wanted to schedule them as a tribute to how good of a team they are and what a good rivalry this is. BY playing the giants on national tv you are guaranteeing and enormous crowd and a very enthusiastic one.

So good for you jerry. Time for everyone involved to toughen up.

When they asked him if he preferred a certain team, why couldn't he have declined? It's impossible that he could have erased the Baltimore fiasco from his memory. In his defense, he didn't pick an obvious patsy.

Choc's post seems to indicate that we may not have all the facts, so Jerry's hands might be clean after all.

I think Jerry definitely wanted this game in primetime on SNF, ansd with that being the case the teams to pick from were more limited. They definitely werent going to pick Seattle or Oakland, and probably werent picking San Diego or Atlanta either. That basically left Carolina and the NFC East. And Carolina wasnt going to draw the ratings that any of the NFC East teams would, especially NYG.

Correct, NBC almost certainly would have scheduled us against a fellow NFC East team or an opponent with a little "glitz," so Jerry (imo) should have sat back and let them do exactly that. Again, we have no definitive proof that any of this actually happened.

the last time it was known Jerry chose a team to play for a special occasion was the last game at Texas Stadium and we all know how that ended. I'm worried about this game because they know Jerry picked tham and because they're a very well coached, solid football team.

You are scard of the Giants, but I'm the fake fan.

it is too bad baltimore ravens wasn't an option, because it would of been nice to open our stadium against the guys who lost us the last game in texas stadium

Jerry Jones handpicked the Ravens as well.

The next thing you know our [strike]head coach[/strike] owner will be guaranteeing wins like Jimmy Johnson.

Jerry sure is a great salesman. Looking at the scheldule that is the best team the boys could have played speaking from a sales point of view.

And it's good to see the team not even focusing on all the stadium hoopla

I think it goes deeper than the sales part. This is the Giants coming to town and what a great opportunity to hopefully be 1 game up and slobber knock them in the process. The Giants selection is not just about the ticket sales, but the excitement of intensely competing against a detested division rival. It etches storied history into the new arena.
